JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Digital Accelerator will play a key role in supporting monthly and quarterly investment data preparation, reporting, automation, and process improvement activities for the Global Investments Reporting and Compliance team.
This role is best suited for someone with a strong technical background who can understand business problems, investigate data and process issues, and design practical solutions. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, identify opportunities to improve existing processes, and use tools such as Power BI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, R, Databricks, and AI-enabled automation to make reporting and data workflows more efficient, accurate, and scalable.
The role requires someone who is not only technically strong, but also curious, proactive, and comfortable working with business partners to understand current processes, challenge manual ways of working, and recommend better solutions.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support monthly and quarterly data preparation, reporting, validation, and delivery processes for investment and business reporting needs.
- Investigate data issues, process gaps, and reporting challenges, and recommend practical solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and control.
- Build, enhance, and maintain reporting and data solutions using tools such as Power BI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, R, Databricks, Power Query, DAX, and other available technologies.
- Identify, develop, and support automation opportunities across monthly and quarterly data preparation, reconciliation, validation, reporting, and stakeholder workflows to reduce repetitive work and improve efficiency, accuracy, and control.
- Collaborate with Investment, Reporting, Compliance, IT, and data teams to improve data flows, reporting outputs, and system-supported processes.
- Support project work related to data transformation, automation, dashboard development, reporting enhancements, and internal process modernization.
- Use AI-enabled tools and automation techniques where appropriate to improve productivity, reporting efficiency, and process quality.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, procedures, and best practices for automated processes, reports, dashboards, and data workflows.
- Perform user acceptance testing and help validate new or enhanced reporting/data solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to team members and help improve the team’s overall capability in data tools, automation, and reporting processes.
- Align work hours with Canada and US time zones as needed to support communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent practical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong technical experience in data preparation, reporting, automation, analytics, or business intelligence.
- Advanced experience with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, report development, and dashboard design.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, data validation, and process automation.
- Experience using Alteryx for data preparation, transformation, automation, and workflow development.
- Strong SQL skills, including querying, joining, validating, and analysing large datasets.
- Experience with Python and/or R for data analysis, automation, reporting, or process improvement.
- Experience working with Databricks or similar cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience using AI tools or AI-enabled automation to improve reporting, data preparation, documentation, or workflow efficiency.
- Ability to review existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend practical improvements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate root causes and propose clear solutions.
- Experience working with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple language to non-technical users.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create process notes, technical documentation, and user-friendly instructions.
- Experience working in financial services, investment reporting, compliance, or investment data is an asset, but deep investment product knowledge is not the primary requirement.
