- Lead the architectural assessment of the existing VMware environment.
- Review the current virtualization architecture, including compute, storage, networking, clusters, workloads, availability, and management components.
- Analyze the environment to determine migration complexity, dependencies, and technical risks.
- Assess the feasibility and key considerations of migrating workloads from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Define target-state architectural recommendations for the Hyper-V environment.
- Evaluate potential approaches for workload migration, sequencing, and prioritization.
- Identify workloads, applications, infrastructure components, or configurations that may require remediation or special handling.
- Assess capacity, performance, availability, security, backup, and disaster recovery considerations.
- Identify gaps between the current VMware environment and the proposed Hyper-V target state.
- Develop a high-level migration strategy and phased roadmap.
- Provide recommendations around architecture, tooling, operational considerations, and implementation priorities.
- Work directly with stakeholders to gather technical information and validate assumptions.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical leadership and other stakeholders.
- Produce professional architectural documentation and a final assessment and migration roadmap.
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, or enterprise architecture.
- Extensive experience designing and assessing VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
- Strong architectural knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V and Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
- Demonstrated experience with virtualization transformation or migration projects.
- Strong understanding of enterprise compute, storage, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Experience performing infrastructure assessments and developing migration strategies.
- Ability to evaluate complex environments and identify dependencies, risks, and technical challenges.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization architecture, capacity planning, and workload placement.
- Excellent architectural documentation and presentation skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership of the assessment from discovery through final recommendations.
