Description
Responsibilities
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment? Peraton is looking for a Program Finance Associate to join our team and play a critical role in managing the financial health of complex government programs. In this role, you'll be at the intersection of finance, operations, and program execution — partnering with project managers, subcontractors, and government customers to ensure every dollar is tracked, forecasted, and reported with precision.
If you're someone who takes ownership, communicates financial insights with confidence, and wants your work to directly support national security missions, this is the opportunity for you.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end program financial management, including budget analysis, forecasting, and invoicing to meet contractual and project requirements.
- Track depreciation and amortization on an ongoing basis, ensuring schedules are current, properly allocated to contracts, and reflected accurately in forecasts and cost projections.
- Track order life cycle from requisition through PO issuance, delivery/receipt, invoicing, and closeout, ensuring accurate cost recognition at each stage.
- Support ad hoc financial reporting requests and discuss financial impacts with direct reports as needed.
- Build and maintain financial reporting/analysis systems to track program performance against budget, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Support the bi-weekly program spend plan — loading actuals and coordinating with project managers on monthly forecasts, including depreciation and amortization schedules for capital assets and intangibles allocated to the program.
- Monitor financial accounts to confirm labor hours/rates, subcontractor costs, ODCs, and depreciation/amortization allocations are accurately charged to contracts.
- Manage subcontracts (accruals, PO funding) and ensure full cost accountability.
- Serve as technical expert on financial compliance, coordinating with government agencies on contract interpretation and resolving issues.
- Define program plan requirements and coordinate interdepartmental planning with vendors and customers.
- Track spending vs. plan, flagging over/under-runs promptly to management.
- Partner with billing to ensure timely, accurate invoicing; monitor DSO and drive cash collection.
- Educate program staff on financial impacts of changes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field with 0-2+ years of experience; OR 4+ years of experience in finance or a related discipline in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with budget management, cost analysis, and/or financial forecasting (preferably in a government contracting or program environment).
- Familiarity with subcontract management, accruals, and purchase order life cycles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external customers and vendors.
- US Citizenship required.
