How you'll make an impact in this role
Serve as the primary medication safety subject matter expert and Chair of the Medication Safety Expert Review Panel (ERP), leading health-system-wide safety initiatives, strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development.
Analyze medication-use errors, adverse drug reactions, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) data to design and implement high-leverage error-reduction strategies, specifically targeting drug shortages, look-alike sound-alike (LASA) risks, and drug diversion.
Oversee the technical integration, installation, and optimization of pharmacy information systems and automation technologies to enhance system-wide medication safety workflows.
Ensure total adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws and regulatory standards while driving High-Reliability Organization (HRO) principles to foster an open culture of safety and transparent communication.
Partner with internal safety committees, interdisciplinary leadership, and external regulatory bodies—including the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) and the FDA MedWatch program—to align on industry best practices.
What minimum qualifications you'll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Pharmacist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
- 5 years of experience required.
- 10 years of experience preferred.
- 2 years of leadership or management experience required.
- 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
What additional requirements you'll need
- Hospital Pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
- Hospital Pharmacy Residency experience preferred.
