IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Manassas, VA to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading designs, and learning the civil engineering trade. Over 10-12 weeks, you will gain hands-on experience supporting real project work.
You will also help the team work within project monetary budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team you would join supports transportation and municipal work and brings a broad Northern Virginia civil practice with experience across data center, industrial, education, survey, ALTA, and SUE work, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do
Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards
Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment
Assist with client relations, project design notebook activities, and documentation for permanent record files
Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required by the contract services agreement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations while working within project monetary budgets
What You'll Bring (Required)
Education
Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities
May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing
Strong interest in design consulting
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of Virginia Pay Range: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
