Description

At Accenture Federal Services, nothing matters more than helping the US federal government make the nation stronger and safer and life better for people. Our 13,000+ people are united in a shared purpose to pursue the limitless potential of technology and ingenuity for clients across defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health organizations.

Join Accenture Federal Services, a technology company within global Accenture. Recognized as a Glassdoor Top 100 Best Place to Work, we offer a collaborative and caring community where you feel like you belong and are empowered to grow, learn and thrive through hands-on experience, certifications, industry training and more.

Join us to drive positive, lasting change that moves missions and the government forward!

Federal agencies are accelerating their move to Google Cloud Platform to modernize infrastructure, improve resilience, and unlock advanced data and AI capabilities within FedRAMP-authorized boundaries. As a Mid-Level Google Cloud Engineer at AFS, you will design, build, and operate GCP environments for defense, civilian, and public health clients — often working within GovCloud/Assured Workloads boundaries and alongside legacy on-prem systems undergoing migration.

You'll be a hands-on technical contributor who can architect a landing zone, automate infrastructure with code, and troubleshoot production issues, while also being able to explain your decisions to a government client who may be new to cloud operations.

What You Will Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage GCP infrastructure (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, VPC networking) for federal client workloads
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Deployment Manager) to ensure repeatable, auditable environment provisioning
  • Architect and implement landing zones within GCP Assured Workloads or equivalent FedRAMP High/DoD IL boundaries
  • Lead or support cloud migration efforts, moving legacy on-prem or other-cloud workloads to GCP with minimal disruption to mission operations
  • Implement IAM policies, VPC Service Controls, and organization policies to enforce least-privilege access and satisfy federal security/compliance requirements
  • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging) to ensure operational visibility and support incident response
  • Collaborate with security teams to support ATO packages, continuous monitoring, and vulnerability remediation
  • Optimize cloud spend and resource utilization, providing cost and performance recommendations to client stakeholders
  • Support integration of GCP data and AI/ML services (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow) into client analytics and application workloads
  • Document architecture decisions, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for client and internal teams

What You Bring

Infrastructure Ownership: You think in terms of reliability, security, and repeatability — not one-off fixes. You'd rather write Terraform than click through a console, and you assume anything you build will need to be explained, audited, or handed off.

Comfort in Regulated Environments: You understand that federal cloud work means constraints — boundary controls, ATO processes, data sovereignty — and you treat those as design inputs, not obstacles to route around.

Diagnostic Instinct: When something breaks in production, you methodically work the problem — logs, metrics, dependencies — rather than guessing. You stay calm under an incident and communicate status clearly while you work it.

Trusted Technical Advisor: You can sit across from a client's IT lead, explain why a design choice matters in plain language, and leave them more confident in the platform, not more confused.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience 4+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
  • Experience with scripting languages such as, but not limited to: Python, Bash, or Go
  • Solid understanding of networking (VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, load balancing)
  • Experience with IAM/security fundamentals in a cloud context
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GCP in FedRAMP High or Assured Workloads environments
  • Google Cloud certification such as:
    • Professional Cloud Architect
    • Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
    • Associate Cloud Engineer)
  • Experience migrating workloads from on-prem or other cloud providers (AWS/Azure) to GCP
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes/GKE, containerization, and microservices architectures
  • Experience supporting ATO/RMF processes and continuous monitoring within federal environments
  • Experience with GCP data and AI/ML services (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow, Dataproc)
  • Multi-cloud experience (AWS, Azure) in addition to GCP

Clearance

  • An active TS/SCI security clearance is required
