Senior Procurement Manager, IT

About us

We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager, IT to lead complex sourcing and supplier management across key areas of IT spend, including software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, data centres, hardware, systems integrators, and managed services. 

About the role

This Senior Manager role sits within the Indirect Procurement organisation, supporting the delivery of commercially robust, scalable, and resilient technology solutions. The role will partner closely with IT stakeholders to shape requirements, optimise spend, and manage strategic supplier relationships that enable digital transformation and operational continuity. 

You will be expected to operate as a hands-on category leader, balancing strategic category planning with strong execution across sourcing, negotiation, contracting, supplier performance, and risk management. 

Strategic Impact 

• Develop and execute category strategies across assigned IT procurement areas, aligned to enterprise technology priorities and business requirements. 

• Translate technology demand into clear sourcing plans, ensuring procurement activity supports innovation, cost discipline, scalability, and service resilience. 

• Monitor market trends across software licensing, cloud consumption, infrastructure, cyber, digital services, and emerging technology categories to inform sourcing strategy. 

• Drive change management and support procurement transformation initiatives, including process improvement, digitalisation, automation, and improved governance. 

Sourcing & Commercial Delivery 

• Lead complex sourcing events across software, cloud, infrastructure, hardware, systems integration, professional services, and managed service providers. 

• Deliver strong commercial outcomes through negotiation, cost modelling, benchmarking, contract structuring, and demand management. 

• Partner with stakeholders to challenge requirements, consolidate demand, optimise licensing or consumption models, and reduce avoidable spend. 

• Build robust commercial cases that support supplier selection, renewal decisions, contract extensions, and strategic sourcing recommendations. 

• Ensure sourcing activity is delivered with pace, transparency, and clear alignment to business priorities. 

Stakeholder & Supplier Leadership 

• Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, and business stakeholders to align procurement activity with operational and strategic needs. 

• Act as a trusted commercial advisor to senior stakeholders, providing market insight, supplier intelligence, and practical recommendations. 

• Manage strategic relationships with key technology suppliers, including major software providers, cloud platforms, infrastructure vendors, hardware suppliers, and global systems integrators. 

• Lead supplier performance reviews, commercial escalations, and continuous improvement discussions to ensure value, service quality, and accountability. 

Commercial & Operational Excellence 

• Embed data-led procurement practices through spend analysis, usage reviews, contract compliance, benchmarking, and value tracking. 

• Identify opportunities to simplify supplier landscapes, improve contract governance, and strengthen procurement controls. 

• Support the adoption of procurement tools, reporting, and repeatable processes to improve efficiency and visibility across the category. 

• Maintain clear documentation of sourcing decisions, commercial rationale, supplier performance, and realised benefits. 

Risk & Compliance 

• Ensure IT suppliers meet relevant cybersecurity, data protection, regulatory, ethical, and contractual requirements. 

• Work closely with Legal, Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Risk teams to identify, assess, and mitigate supplier and contract risks. 

• Manage key commercial, operational, and continuity risks across critical IT services and vendor dependencies. 

• Promote responsible sourcing, ethical conduct, and compliance with procurement policies and approval frameworks. 

Team & Capability Building 

• Provide guidance and support to procurement colleagues involved in IT sourcing or supplier management activity. 

• Share market insight, category knowledge, negotiation approaches, and best practice across the wider procurement team. 

• Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong commercial discipline. 

About you

• Significant experience in indirect procurement, with strong exposure to IT procurement in a complex, global organisation. 

• Deep knowledge of software licensing, SaaS, cloud commercial models, infrastructure, hardware, managed services, and technology supplier ecosystems. 

• Strong commercial acumen with proven experience in negotiation, contract structuring, cost optimisation, supplier management, and value delivery. 

• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge demand constructively, and operate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. 

• Strong analytical capability, including spend analysis, benchmarking, cost modelling, usage optimisation, and business case development. 

• Confident working in a fast-paced, changing environment with competing priorities and complex stakeholder requirements. 

• Strategic and operational excellence: translates strategy into action, ensuring rigour, consistency, and execution throughout the source-to-contract cycle and supplier engagement.
