Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
Responsible for the delivery of professional nursing services which will address the physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, developmental, and age-appropriate needs of each individual patient/family. Provides care with a focus on discharge preparation and instruction for mother and baby, and coordinates care planning with other disciplines as needed.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Perform patient assessment.
- Develop plan of care.
- Implement care.
- Evaluate plan of care.
- Provide nursing intervention.
- Assess patient/family learning needs.
- Responsible for discharge education and planning, which includes assisting with follow-up appointment, completing follow-up phone call once discharges, reviewing services available once discharged and assisting with newborn labs, screenings and birth certificate completion.
- Ensure safety of patients, visitors, colleagues, and self.
- Participate in department and hospital quality initiatives.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Graduate from a nursing program.
- 2 years' experience as Postpartum Nurse
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing with eligibility to work in the state of MO.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) upon completion of orientation.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC)
- Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC)
- Low-Risk Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-LRN) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC)
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant - International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
