Description

We are looking for a Legal Project Executive to join the team in London on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.

The Legal Operations and Project Management (LOPM) team supports our lawyers and clients in delivering legal matters more effectively and efficiently by applying legal project management (LPM) and business transformation principles. Our remit is extensive, from hands-on support for live matters, training and capability building, development of project management resources and tools, and leading process improvement initiatives that enhance both client and internal outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of a growing and dynamic team that plays a central role in how we deliver legal services.

As part of the selection process, please provide a cover letter addressing:

• Motivation and Experience: Describe your 2–3 years of experience in a project-related role (ideally within professional services or the legal sector) and explain why this opportunity appeals to you.
• Skills and Achievements: Demonstrate your expertise in project management, stakeholder engagement, and managing change. Provide specific examples of how you have managed timelines, budgets, and relationships to deliver measurable results.
• Technical Proficiency: Highlight your proficiency in MS Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel), with examples of how you have applied these skills to support projects or drive efficiencies.
Keep your cover letter concise, well-structured, and tailored to the role’s requirements.

About the Role

As part of the LOPM team, you will play a pivotal role in embedding project management disciplines and behaviours across the firm, ensuring legal services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and consistently.

You will leverage your expertise in project management, stakeholder management, and change delivery to enhance client service, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure projects and matters adhere to timelines and budgets.

A key focus of this role will be delivering project management training, promoting awareness of LPM tools, and driving adoption of new ways of working. You will collaborate closely with our Operations Managers and senior stakeholders to support the firm’s strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Matter & Project Management

• Apply legal project management (LPM) principles across all phases of client matters and internal projects, ensuring effective planning, tracking, reporting, and delivery.
• Monitor timelines, deliverables, risks, and dependencies across multiple workstreams, proactively communicating progress and challenges.
• Facilitate effective meetings, ensuring clear actions, accountability, and follow-up.
• Promote consistent use of the firm’s LPM toolkit, adapting and developing resources where required.

Financial & Commercial Awareness

• Understand law firm economics, and drivers of performance across practice groups and business services.
• Support preparation of financial reports and provide simple analysis to improve cost control and profitability.
• Track and interpret financial metrics (budgets, time recording, utilisation, and performance reports) to inform LPM planning.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and value creation in matter delivery.

Tools, Technology & Process Improvement

• Recommend and implement appropriate project management tools and approaches, ensuring benefits are clearly communicated.
• Drive engagement with LPM tools and legal technology, collaborating with the Legal Tech team to enhance matter management processes.
• Participate in process mapping, documentation, and workflow improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to projects that implement best practice, improve quality, and enhance efficiency across legal service delivery.

Training & Communication

• Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with lawyers, business services teams, and senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Understand stakeholder needs, adapting communication and prioritisation accordingly.
• Draft and deliver clear, concise, and audience-appropriate communications to support project progress, change initiatives, and team objectives.
• Promote the LOPM remit and capabilities internally and externally, contributing to pitches, client communications, and thought leadership.
• Deliver engaging training sessions on LPM tools, processes, and methodologies across the firm.
• Support onboarding of new team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Data, Reporting & Analysis

• Use Excel and other reporting tools to interpret data, track KPIs, and produce clear visualisations of matter/project metrics.
• Provide data-driven insights to support matter planning, financial reporting, and strategic decision-making.
• Implement monitoring mechanisms to track project and matter progress against KPIs and milestones, providing regular updates to stakeholders.

About You

We are seeking Project Executives with experience in professional services or the legal sector, ideally with 2–3 years in a project-focused role. You will bring a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and be able to demonstrate practical examples of how you have applied project management and technical skills to deliver results.

Given the nature of the role, you will need to:

• Prioritise effectively, managing multiple deadlines and competing demands.
• Communicate with confidence at all levels, adapting your style to suit a range of stakeholders.
• Navigate change and ambiguity with resilience and professionalism.
To thrive, you will be:
• Proactive and results-driven, with excellent attention to detail.
• Personable and collaborative, fostering a positive team culture and building trusted relationships.
• Adaptable and innovative, bringing fresh ideas and delivering impact in a growing team.

You will also bring strong technical proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint essential), with experience in process mapping or workflow tools considered an advantage.
