Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth.  CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBA’s Housing Services operates approximately 1,600 units of transitional, emergency, scattered-site, and permanent congregate housing.  These programs provide services to individuals and families who are formerly homeless or have special needs, including case management, crisis intervention, independent living skills training, recreation, socialization, and other support services.   

Position: Program Director of Security and Operations

Reports To: Vice President of Security and Operations  

Location: Bronx, NY 10460

What Does the Program Director Do: 

  • Comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.  
  • Immediately report to the appropriate Vice-President/Executive Vice-President any: monitoring visits or funders’ events; significant events; any incident that might subject CAMBA to liability. 
  • Confer with the appropriate Vice-President/Executive Vice-President and/or Human Resources or other CAMBA management as needed regarding programmatic and personnel issues. 
  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders. 
  • Lead and participate in program meetings as requested. 
  • Oversee security operations at CAMBA sites. 
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is met via site visits to various Supportive Housing sites.  
  • Ensure the safety and security of operations of the facility by maintaining adequate staffing levels.  
  • Communicate effectively with clients, direct reporting staff, peers, and supervisors. 
  • Analyze program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements. 
  • Develop and implement Quality Assurance measures to ensure quality service delivery to clients 
  • Develop and implement crisis prevention and/or intervention strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment. 
  • Adhere to all CAMBA’s policies and procedures. 
  • Make recommendations to the appropriate Vice-President/Executive Vice-President regarding organizational policies, procedures, and protocols. 
  • Communicate CAMBA’s and funders’ policies, requirements, guidelines, and program performance targets to staff. 
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel direct reporting staff to excel. 
  • Ensure that any disciplinary action taken regarding staff complies with CAMBA’s disciplinary policy and procedure. 
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff. 
  • Review and sign time sheets. 
  • Professionally respond to complaints, incidents, and emergencies and/or incidents and interview all parties, analyze, collect data, document, and report the situation.   
  • Resolve individual conflicts and disputes between staff or clients in a respectful and solution-based manner.  
  • Overcome resistance to change from clients, direct reporting staff, and supervisors/funders. 
  • Employ crisis prevention/intervention and crisis management skills when conflict occurs. 
  • Counsel tenants who violate rules (such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles) and complete infraction reports.   
  • Manage own time effectively. 
  • As a Mandated Reporter, you must immediately report suspected incidents/cases of abuse and neglect to the Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) Hotline at 1-855-373-2122 and complete a CAMBA Incident Report. 
  • In the absence of adequate staffing, will have direct service/program responsibility in addition to the above.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education, Licenses, and/or Certifications Required: 

  • Some College, HS Diploma or GED  
  • Security License  

Minimum Experience and Skills Required:  

  • Two years of relevant experience. 
  • Three to Five years of supervisory experience. 
  • Basic analytical & math skills. 
  • Good written & verbal communication. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual English and Spanish. 

Pre and/or Post Employment Requirements: 

  • Obtain “Criminal History Checks” (CHC) fingerprinting through the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice System) and Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance. 
  • Ability to maintain fingerprint clearance throughout employment. 

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

 Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
