Description
The City of Delano is seeking an experienced, dynamic municipal professional to serve as its Assistant City Manager. The Assistant City Manager acts as a key administrative partner to the City Manager, directing high level projects, overseeing assigned municipal departments, and helping shape organizational policies and strategic programs.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in administration, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated history of effective interdepartmental leadership.

- Assists the City Manager in the development of City goals, objectives, and priorities and oversees special programs.
- Reviews and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental programs.
- Directs, manages and oversees a variety of department/division and special projects.
- Researches and develops suggested changes to department organization structure, and budgets during the City’s budgetary process.
- Assists in the review and analysis of department budget estimates and the work of professional, technical, and clerical staff.

- Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business administration, city and regional planning, or a related field.
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years of extensive and responsible experience in municipal management and administrative work at the department head level.
- Master’s Degree in one of the above fields, highly desirable, and may be substituted for one year of administrative experience.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years supervisory experience required.
- Maintain a valid California Driver License with a driving record acceptable to the City.
