Position Overview
The Stores Initiatives Specialist is an important role that works closely with the Manager of Product Operations. This position will work closely with stores and supply chain partners in coordinating freight deliveries and monitoring correlated KPIs. Key ownership components include tracking and analyzing backlog, delivery schedules and ad hoc adjustments, relevant supplies and fixtures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with each. As a result, becoming the primary subject matter expert in the company will be required.In order to support this important business function, this position will need to draft and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials and other content that support the preparation, receipt and ongoing consistency of freight among more than 1,000 stores. This will require fielding frequent and challenging questions that may require swift responses and thorough evaluations. Furthermore, developing reporting, analyzing trends and identifying outliers are crucial tools that assist store improvement.
The Specialist of BOH Process will also frequently visit stores and engage field leadership so as to train, problem-solve, improve processes and collect valuable insights. By becoming the subject matter expert, this position will also be responsible for designing, testing and deploying new freight monitoring initiatives and processes. This may require the development of communications and program strategies for stores, as well as executive leadership.
As a key member in Store Operations, acting as the primary contact for Stores is crucial and will require a unique blend of skills and experience. The ideal candidate for this role will be a problem solver, collaborator and communicator with a combination of experience in retail store operations and/or logistics at a national-scale retailer.
A Day in the Life
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process Innovation & Refinement: Own the freight receipt methodology in stores. Be the ultimate subject matter expert so as to field questions from stores, develop training and continuous education materials and troubleshoot problems. In addition, this role will continuously analyze processes and reporting in order to refine, improve and innovate towards a more productive methodology.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Create open and efficient avenues for incoming store, leadership and business partner questions and concerns. Set standards, processes, and tools for in-scope areas to ensure communication, field requests and glitches are systematically catalogued and resolved.
- Relationship Building: As applicable, train, coach, and peer-manage teams within the key processes and mentor individuals as business needs dictate. Establish structured processes to foster strong relationships with store, field and business partners (supply chain) that will lead to exchanges of authentic feedback, recommendations and other useful information.
- Data Management: Collect, analyze and report data on key performance indicators in relation to freight receipts such as schedule adjustments, timeliness, cancellation rates, etc. Make recommendations, report outliers and partner with pertinent teams to remedy challenges that manifest themselves in the data.
You'll Come With
Experience:
- >5 years of experience in store operations or logistics
- >3 years of experience in retail logistics process development a plus
- Ability to drive change in stores at national scale retail
- Experience in developing functional partnerships among diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in writing SOPs, training documents and communications
- Track record of launching and driving adoption of process changes
- Demonstrated problem solving, people management, and communication skills
