Senior Biomedical Engineer / Supervisor - JP2060
Philips is seeking an experienced Senior Biomedical Engineer / Supervisor to support the JP2060 Deployable Health Program.
This role combines hands-on biomedical engineering responsibilities with day-to-day team leadership, technical oversight, planning and customer engagement activities. The successful candidate will act as the senior onsite engineering representative, ensuring medical equipment is maintained in a safe, operationally ready state while supporting the performance and development of the JP2060 Biomedical Engineering team.
The Senior Biomedical Engineer / Supervisor will work closely with Philips leadership, SAAB Australia, the Australian Defence Force, third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are achieved and capability remains available to support Defence operations.
This position has been established to enhance local capability, support increasing workload demands and provide technical leadership across the JP2060 sustainment environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Biomedical Engineering Services
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, configuration, testing and validation of medical devices and associated systems.
- Ensure all servicing activities are completed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, Defence requirements and Philips quality standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance documentation, and asset histories.
- Support equipment acceptance, commissioning and capability upgrades as required.
- Assist with inventory management and lifecycle planning activities.
Technical Leadership and Supervision
- Provide day-to-day supervision and coordination of JP2060 Biomedical Engineering personnel.
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex equipment and sustainment issues.
- Mentor and develop junior Biomedical Engineers and Engineering Support personnel.
- Drive consistency in engineering practices, documentation, and service quality.
- Assist the Solutions Delivery Leader with workforce planning, workload prioritisation and resource allocation.
- Monitor team performance, productivity and operational readiness.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with SAAB, ADF and associated stakeholders.
- Participate in customer meetings and provide technical advice regarding medical equipment support requirements.
- Support investigation and resolution of customer-raised issues.
- Assist in developing technical reports, recommendations and engineering assessments.
Operational and Contract Support
- Support the execution of contractual deliverables associated with the JP2060 program.
- Assist with Survey and Quote activities, including scope assessment, quotation development and technical review.
- Review maintenance trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support planning and execution of national maintenance activities.
- Ensure work activities are completed safely and in accordance with Philips Health, Safety and Wellbeing requirements.
- Assist with operational reporting, metrics and program reviews.
Quality, Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Philips Quality Management System requirements.
- Promote a strong culture of safety and risk management.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with applicable standards, regulations and contractual obligations.
Skills and Experience
- Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience supporting medical equipment within a healthcare, Defence or field service environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising technical teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of diagnostic, monitoring, life-support and deployable medical equipment.
- Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- High level written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Australian Defence security clearance requirements.
- Current Australian driver license.
- Previous experience supporting Defence contracts or Defence health capability highly preferred
- Experience working within ISO 13485, quality or regulated service environments.
- Project coordination or operational leadership experience.
- Knowledge of supply chain, logistics and asset management processes.
- Experience working with SAAB, Defence or deployable health systems.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
