Description

The City is looking for employees who are committed to public service and possess a willingness to be challenged. The Fire Department is currently recruiting for "ARSON INVESTIGATOR / INSPECTOR".
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Investigator / Inspector position requires someone who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner, including difficult and irate persons. Must work well with fellow employees. Conducts fire investigations, criminal investigations, fire and life safety inspections, and educational programs on related safety. The Investigator / Inspector will also conduct building inspections and other inspections necessary to maintain the public's general health, safety, and welfare, and assist the Fire Marshal with plan reviews for code compliance. This position is subject to being "On-Call".
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A valid Class C Texas Driver's License is required. Driving records must meet City guidelines.
- Current certification as a Peace Officer issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
- Current certification as an Arson Investigator and Fire Inspector issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP).
- Current Structural Fire Suppression certification issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
- Current Plan Examiner I certification issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection; certification may be obtained within the first year of employment.
- Current Fire and Life Safety Educator I certification issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection; certification may be obtained within the first year of employment.
- Current Instructor I certification issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection; certification may be obtained within the first year of employment.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700 and 800 preferred.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic certification issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services preferred.
