What you will do:

Reporting to the Head of US Patient Advocacy, you will lead U.S. patient advocacy for the amyloidosis portfolio. You will build strategic alliances, bring patient and caregiver perspectives into decision-making, and advance initiatives that support diagnosis, disease awareness, access, treatment advances, caregiver resources, and improved health outcomes. Responsibilities may evolve with patient and business needs.

You will be responsible for:

  • Establish Alexion as a trusted, long-term partner to U.S. amyloidosis and other relevant patient communities by strengthening existing relationships and identifying new partnerships.

  • Shape and execute U.S. patient advocacy strategies and plans in partnership with Medical, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance.

  • Advance access and equity through patient-partnered alliances and initiatives informed by the lived experience of patients and caregivers.

  • Connect patient groups with information and resources, build collaboration across communities, and coordinate disease-specific and cross-disease engagement with U.S. and global colleagues.

  • Gather, share, and integrate patient, caregiver, and patient advocacy group insights to shape Alexion programs, research, activities, strategies, and decisions.

  • Represent Patient Advocacy on relevant cross-functional leadership teams and externally at patient-focused congresses and meetings; lead internal patient-centricity sessions.

  • Align with other AstraZeneca business units, create meaningful connections between patient groups and Alexion leaders, and manage projects, agencies, vendors, and budgets effectively.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of progressive industry or relevant professional experience, or 7+ years of patient advocacy experience.

  • Strong knowledge of and established connections within the U.S. rare disease advocacy community (amyloidosis advocacy connections a plus)

  • Ability to lead through influence and work effectively across a complex matrix.

  • Broad biopharma knowledge, including drug development, HEOR, product launch, access and reimbursement, commercialization, and compliant patient engagement.

  • Strong understanding of legal, regulatory, compliance, and other requirements affecting biopharmaceutical patient engagement.

  • Excellent communication, judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills, integrity, and ability to manage sensitive or complex patient issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to build internal and external partnerships, manage agency partners, prioritize shared goals, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Excellent project, agency, vendor, and budget management skills, with ability to travel and perform the core communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving requirements of a field-based role, with or without accommodation.
