The Opportunity: Financial Risk Management
The primary mandate of the Financial Risk Management (FRM) group is to help clients identify, measure and manage market risk, credit risk and operational risk arising during their business activities and using derivative and non-derivative financial instruments.
The scope of the co-op term includes but not limited to validation/review of clients’ credit risk models, development of AI/ML/GenAI models/use cases.
FRM also provides accounting advice relating to complex accounting standards, audit support and advisory services in areas of treasury and risk management, and financial instruments. Their services to clients include the evaluation, development, and implementation of financial risk management frameworks, tools, and solutions.
What you’ll create and do:
You will gain knowledge in credit risk, AI/Machine Learning/GenAI modeling, and model review and have the opportunity to work with subject matter experts in a dynamic team environment. Significant opportunities for developing project management and other financial risk management skills await candidates with a keen interest in pursuing a career in Financial Risk Management.
What you’ll bring to this role:
Master’s degree (or currently enrolled) in financial engineering, mathematical finance, statistics, or a similar quantitative discipline
Background of mathematics and statistics
Experience with credit risk modeling is desirable
Experience with AI/ML modeling and background of GenAI is desirable
Strong quantitative and analytical skills and proficiency in at least one of the programming languages: Python, R, SAS, SQL, etc.
Effective communication skills demonstrated through strong written and verbal skills, including comfort with presentations.
Ability to interact well with others in a professional, team-oriented, client service environment
CFA or FRM designation is an asset
Previous consulting experience is an asset

- The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $72,000. Eligible employees will also have the opportunity to participate in our performance pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements.
