Electrical Engineer – Manufacturing / Controls

If you’re an Electrical Engineer who enjoys being hands-on, solving difficult equipment problems, and improving how manufacturing systems operate, this could be a strong opportunity.

This role serves as a key technical resource for the plant, stepping in when electrical or controls issues require deeper troubleshooting than the maintenance team can provide. You’ll work closely with electricians, maintenance personnel, operations, vendors, and engineering teams to keep equipment running reliably while supporting upgrades and improvement projects.

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshoot complex electrical and controls issues on manufacturing equipment
• Diagnose PLC-related problems, including potential component, board, and system failures
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls, relays, starters, contactors, and related components
• Edit and modify machine control programming to improve equipment performance, product quality, and waste reduction
• Partner with electricians and maintenance teams to resolve critical equipment problems and minimize downtime
• Evaluate equipment and process improvement requests to determine technical feasibility
• Specify electrical components, controls, and replacement parts for repairs and upgrades
• Work directly with vendors to source equipment, coordinate repairs, and manage delivery timelines
• Plan and support the installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment
• Coordinate project schedules, equipment downtime, and installation activities across departments
• Lead or support crews during equipment installations and major maintenance projects
• Provide technical guidance in a manufacturing environment that includes union personnel
• Support plant safety, environmental, and operational improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial controls, and manufacturing equipment
• Ability to understand both the electrical and mechanical operation of industrial machinery
• Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
• Experience working in a union environment is a plus
• Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and partnering with skilled trades personnel
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to support occasional off-shift or weekend needs when critical equipment issues arise
• Willingness to travel out of state occasionally
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
