Description
Mortgage Analyst: AI Training — Confidential
About the company
Our client is a venture-backed, AI-native mortgage platform rebuilding how home loans are originated, from capital markets backward. Vertically integrated and automated end to end, it originates loans at a fraction of the usual cost and passes better pricing on to borrowers.
The company is Series B, with $50M+ raised from leading fintech and proptech investors and a major US bank as a strategic investor. The company name is shared once you’re in process.
The role
The Mortgage Analyst: AI Training is a new role that hasn’t existed before. AI agents do most of the underwriting work on each loan file, then present a recommendation with the reasoning and evidence behind it. You make the final credit decision.
When the agent is confident, you verify the items it flags and confirm the call. When it’s stuck, you resolve the conflicting information or answer its question so the file can move. This is a full-time, remote role with senior underwriters to learn from, and you’ll help define what the job becomes.
What you’ll do
- Work a daily caseload of loan files underwritten by the company’s AI agents, each teed up with a recommendation, its reasoning and the supporting evidence.
- Verify the agent’s work on the items it flags rather than taking it at face value, then confirm the credit decision.
- Run down the cases where the agent is stuck: resolve conflicting information and answer the questions it surfaces.
- Escalate guideline and judgment questions to senior underwriters, and build your mortgage knowledge as you go.
- Hold clear, credible conversations with loan originators when files need it.
What you bring
- You learn fast and can figure out a role that has no playbook yet.
- You have strong attention to detail and check the work in front of you, including an AI’s.
- You use AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT in your daily work, well beyond the basics.
- You communicate clearly in writing and conversation, and can hold your own with experienced lending professionals.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity and do well in an early-stage environment without much structure.
- Experience in mortgage, lending or financial services.
Nice to have
- Early-career experience at a tech company, or at a mortgage-tech company in a role outside underwriting.
- Strong academics, including humanities or research-heavy backgrounds that show you can read closely, interpret and spot patterns.
Compensation and logistics
- Base salary: $80K–$100K
- Type: Full-time
- Location: Remote, United States
