Job Summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating transportation activities, communicating with drivers and customers, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of materials while maintaining efficient routing and scheduling.

 

Work Schedule: M-F

Hours: 3pm - 11:30pm

Hourly Rate (Depending on Experience: $23-$25 per hour)

Function in the Job

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Job Function

• Serve as first point of contact for incoming calls and emails and communicate information accurately and timely
• Receive and record information for all calls, emails, and customer requests
• Provide fast and accurate responses to customer inquiries
• Schedule and dispatch drivers, trucks, and equipment based on customer requests and operational needs
• Coordinate delivery routes to maximize efficiency and control costs
• Communicate customer requirements, delivery schedules, and operating hours to drivers
• Monitor driver activity, daily logs, and hours of service to ensure compliance and efficiency
• Track equipment availability and notify Fleet Maintenance Manager of repair needs
• Monitor fuel usage and verify accurate reporting of equipment usage
• Ensure tickets, work orders, and documents meet customer specifications and delivery requirements
• Relay work orders, messages, and instructions between drivers, supervisors, and operations personnel
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to resolve issues, answer questions, and respond to service needs
• Prepare daily schedules and weekly projections for deliveries and truck allocation
• Monitor personnel and equipment to ensure alignment with customer delivery schedules
• Maintain records of dispatch activities including customer requests, deliveries, expenses, and inventory
• Determine equipment, materials, and personnel needed based on work orders and specifications
• Communicate traffic conditions, weather issues, or other factors that may impact delivery timelines
• Evaluate delivery routes and recommend adjustments to improve efficiency and service quality
