This is a highly independent, customer-facing role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems in the field.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, repair, maintain, qualify, and validate OES, XRF, and XRD systems at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to support instrument reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Manage service calls, parts inventory, and service documentation through customer management systems.
  • Serve as a technical connection between customers and Thermo Fisher teams, including Technical Support, Sales, and Engineering.
  • Provide equipment operation and safety training to customers and colleagues.

What You’ll Bring

Education and experience:

Key Skills

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting scientific, analytical, or other complex technical equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple service requests and maintain clear documentation.
  • Comfortable working at customer locations and managing a travel-intensive territory.

Travel and Physical Requirements

  • Travel up to 70–75% within Southwest US and other areas as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. with assistance and regularly lift/carry 25–30 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions.
  • Comfortable working in varied customer-site environments.

Why Thermo Fisher Scientific

You’ll support technology used across industries including mining, metals, cement, batteries, food, chemicals, and other critical production environments. Your work helps customers keep sophisticated analytical equipment operating reliably so they can make accurate, timely decisions.

Thermo Fisher Scientific offers competitive compensation, an annual incentive plan, healthcare benefits, and opportunities for career growth within a global organization serving science.
