Description
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. A force for humanity, IRC employees deliver lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity and hope to millions. If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future.
The volunteer will support the Ahlan Simsim Digital team in uploading content to the Family Corner
website and its content management system (CMS), and in making sure that everything is migrated
correctly and looks good. This includes checking that every page, file, image, video and link displays
properly and works as intended.
The role depends on careful, detail-focused work. A wrong file, a typo or a broken link is easy to miss
but visible to everyone who uses the website, so each item must be checked before and after upload.
Content upload
• Upload content to the Family Corner website through the CMS, following the instructions, tem-
plates and folder structure provided by the Digital team.
• Check every item against the source before uploading for accuracy and consistency.
• Compress files and resize images where needed, keeping them clear and easy to read.
• Place each item (text, images, videos and files) on the correct page and section, with the correct
title, description, category and language version (Arabic or English).
• Upload videos to YouTube where needed, add or replace the links in the CMS and confirm that
each video plays on the right page.
• Follow the agreed file naming and folder structure, including in Box.
Migration checks and tracking:
• Compare each uploaded page with the source content to confirm that nothing is missing, dupli-
cated or changed by mistake.
• Check each page on a computer and on a mobile phone: layout, spacing, fonts, image quality and
the correct right-to-left display of Arabic text.
• Flag spelling mistakes, missing words and formatting errors in Arabic and English text, and cor-
rect them only as agreed with the Digital team.
• Test every link, button, download and embedded video to confirm that it opens the right content.
• Keep a tracking sheet in Excel showing, for each item, its source, where it was uploaded, the
date, its status and any issue found and how it was resolved.
• Fix problems within the volunteer’s role and report anything else (such as CMS technical errors or
unclear or missing source content) to the Digital team promptly instead of guessing
Deliverables:
• All assigned content uploaded to the Family Corner website and CMS, in the agreed structure and
with correct file names.
• A tracking sheet in Excel listing every item uploaded, its location, date, status and any issues
found and resolved.
• A completed check of all uploaded content (text, images, videos, files, links, and appearance on
computer and mobile), with link test results as proof that links work after migration.
• A list of open issues (such as broken links, missing content or technical errors) with notes for fol-
low-up, and a short handover note at the end of the two months
Requirements:
• Strong attention to detail (main requirement). Able to spot small errors in text, formatting, im-
ages, file names and links, to check their own work carefully and to stay accurate across many
similar items over the full two months.
• Good command of written Arabic and English, including the ability to notice spelling and format-
ting mistakes in both languages.
• Good knowledge of working with digital files (for example PDFs, images and videos), including file
naming and folder organization.
• Experience working with MS Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new online tools quickly. Ex-
perience with a CMS, website editor or Canva is preferred.
• Ability to apply the agreed categories and structure accurately, for example by developmental
stage or learning domain. Familiarity with early childhood development content is an advantage.
• Good time management and communication skills, including raising questions and problems
early, and availability for the full two-month period.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Prior experience in data entry, content upload, proofreading or quality checking is preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree, or current university studies, in early childhood development, education,
communications or a related field is preferred
Stipend and payment schedule:
• Payment will be made monthly, after the volunteer submits the deliverables and attendance
sheets and they are approved
