Description
Reports to:
- Operations Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial refrigeration systems including compressors, evaporators, condensers, blast freezers, and cold rooms.
- Ensure the safe and optimal functioning of high-performance systems used for food-grade or industrial applications.
- Monitor refrigeration performance metrics and perform routine inspections.
- Manage and maintain systems using synthetic refrigerants and, if applicable, ammonia or carbon dioxide.
- Follow safety protocols and regulatory guidelines for handling natural refrigerants.
- Lead the general maintenance team, providing hands-on guidance, task allocation, and skill development.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules and assign priorities to ensure minimal downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, proper documentation, and reporting of maintenance activities.
- Support setup, repair, and expansion of cold storage and blast freezing infrastructure in existing and new facilities.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to align maintenance and refrigeration strategies with operational goals.
- Conduct regular site visits across Tanzania for installation, diagnostics, and system reviews.
- Provide technical support and training to site-level maintenance personnel where necessary.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Refrigeration Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with commercial blast freezers and industrial cold room systems.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively across Tanzania.
