Head of Engineering, HVAC & Mechanical & Electrical

Job Description

Overview         

Manage and lead the engineering team to ensure that all technical documentation is executed in accordance with the project requirement for quality, while respecting the pre-established constraints for budget and schedule

Your role

• To plan and direct the mobilization of the engineering personnel to ensure that suitably qualified engineers, technicians and draftsman will be available as and when required.
• To prepare a list of engineering deliverables (coded in such a way that they can be sorted by discipline, facility or work package) and indicating the hours required per document, to permit the planning and control of the engineering budget and schedule (PM+).
• To prepare the project engineering procedures.
• To prepare all technical documentation required for the execution of the project.
• To lead HVAC design activities, including the issuance of design instructions, review of design criteria, and coordination of discipline inputs
• To oversee HVAC engineering calculations and technical evaluation, including load calculations, equipment sizing, airflow verification, and compliance with applicable project requirements and standards
• To manage and coordinate the progress of the engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule and procedures.
• To review shop drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs.
• After the award of contracts and purchase orders, monitor the fabrication and construction work to ensure that it is executed in accordance with the engineering design.
• Using the PM+, measure on a monthly basis, the progress of engineering work packages, to
• ensure that the budgets and schedules are being met. If necessary take corrective action.
• To ensure that the quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with the Project Instructions and the quality assurance plan.
• To ensure that the checking of documentation and interdisciplinary coordination is carried out in accordance with the Project Instructions.
• To establish and maintain a climate favourable to the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of the engineering work.
• To train and aid his subordinates in their proposal development.

About you

• An Engineering Degree.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent command of English in both written and oral communication.
• Mandatory proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Preferred hands-on experience with 3D modeling tools such as Revit etc.
• Proven technical design capabilities in large scale projects.
• Strong track record of working with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large scale projects.
