Description
The Video Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining video and projection systems for experiential activations, installations, and live events. This is a fully onsite role involving hands-on technical work during build-in, activation, and teardown phases. You will work closely with creative, lighting, audio, and production teams to ensure seamless visual storytelling and flawless execution.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall and configure video equipment, including projectors, LED screens, media servers, video walls, cameras, and playback devices.Program and operate video playback systems, control gear, and media servers during events.Collaborate with creative and production teams to execute visual designs, cues, and live video elements.Perform pre‑event testing, signal checking, calibration, and alignment of screens and projectors.Troubleshoot video signal, synchronization, and hardware issues on site to maintain performance quality.Maintain inventory and condition of video gear, including cables, connectors, mounts, and control devices.Support rigging, mounting, and positioning of video equipment, ensuring proper alignment and safety.Coordinate with lighting and audio technicians to integrate video with other technical elements.Assist in media content upload, asset management, and content looping or triggering as required by the client or production team.Dismantle and pack video equipment after events, ensuring safe transport and storage.Document video setups, as-built configurations, mapping, and signal routing for future reference.Provide guidance or training to less experienced video crew or interns on best practices.Adhere strictly to safety standards, especially when working at heights, with rigging, or heavy equipment.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in video production, broadcast technology, or a related field is preferred.2+ years of experience in video production, AV operations, live events, or experiential environments.Knowledge of video systems: projectors, LED walls, media servers, switchers, scalers, and signal flow.Proficiency with media server software, video playback tools, and mapping techniques.Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, signal flow charts, and rigging schematics.Strong problem-solving skills; ability to quickly diagnose and resolve video issues on site.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality visual output.Good physical stamina: capable of lifting equipment, working at height, and performing extended setup/teardown tasks.Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-pressure event environment.Strong communication and collaboration skills with creative and production teams.Willingness to travel to event sites and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.Commitment to safety, including correct use of PPE, rigging practices, and electrical protocols.Work Environment & ConditionsFully onsite role during event build-ins, activations, and breakdowns.Exposure to loud event environments, lighting rigs, and heavy video equipment.Requires climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting heavy gear.Flexible scheduling may be required, including evening, weekend shifts, and travel.Why Work at BMF?Be a central part of creating immersive brand experiences through video and projection.Collaborate with a high-performing team of designers, producers, and technical professionals.Grow your skill set in experiential video technology, media servers, and large-scale installations.Work on exciting, high-profile events and brand activations.Advance your career into technical leadership, video design, or AV production roles.
