SUMMARY
The Senior Advisor, Cyber Operations & MSP Engagement is responsible for supporting the growth, operational success, and ongoing engagement of Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients utilizing Arete's Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services. This role serves as the primary operational point of contact for MSP clients, helping ensure successful onboarding, service adoption, operational alignment, and overall client satisfaction.
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Cyber Operations, this position combines cybersecurity operations expertise, client relationship management, and business development support. The Senior Consultant works closely with MSP clients, Cyber Operations, Service Delivery, and Sales teams to optimize service delivery, address operational requirements, identify opportunities for growth, and support the acquisition of new MSP clients.
This role balances operational leadership and technical expertise with revenue growth responsibilities and is expected to participate directly in client engagements, technical discussions, service enhancement initiatives, onboarding activities, and sales support efforts. The Senior Consultant plays a key role in expanding Arete's MDR presence within the MSP community while ensuring a high-quality experience for existing MSP clients.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
MSP Client Growth & Business Development
- Support the growth of Arete’s MSP client base through business development activities, market engagement, and collaboration with Sales.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new MSP opportunities that align with Arete’s MDR service offerings.
- Participate directly in sales pursuits, solution development, client presentations, and technical discussions.
- Represent Arete at industry conferences, webinars, trade events, and business development activities.
- Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, client requirements, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for service expansion and growth.
Cyber Operations Leadership
- Support the operational delivery and advancement of cybersecurity services including Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Extended Detection and Response (XDR), Threat Hunting, Security Operations Center (SOC) services, Penetration Testing, and Vulnerability Management, and other MSS services.
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across Cyber Operations initiatives and client engagements.
- Collaborate with internal Cyber Operations teams to improve service delivery quality, efficiency, and client outcomes.
Service Development & Operational Excellence
- Support the enhancement and evolution of Arete’s managed security service offerings based on client feedback, operational experience, and market demand.
- Develop and maintain scalable service delivery frameworks, operational playbooks, client enablement materials, and service delivery best practices.
- Establish and monitor operational key performance indicators (KPIs) related to MSP client satisfaction, retention, service adoption, and operational effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase scalability, consistency, and service delivery quality across the MSS operations related to MSP client delivery.
- Support the development of go-to-market strategies for new and existing cybersecurity services.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to MSPs, MSSPs, and key stakeholder groups.
- Build executive and operational relationships that support long-term growth and client retention.
- Promote the adoption of Arete’s managed security services through strategic engagement, operational guidance, and client success initiatives.
- Support client success initiatives through proactive engagement, issue resolution, and service optimization.
- Develop strong customer references and success stories that support Arete’s growth objectives.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop cybersecurity professionals supporting MSPs and Cyber Operations initiatives.
- Provide direction, coaching, and performance management for assigned direct reports.
- Identify resource requirements and support future team growth and organizational development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to workforce planning, knowledge sharing, and professional development efforts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product & Engineering, and Finance teams to achieve business objectives.
- Align operational capabilities with customer requirements, growth strategies, and market opportunities.
- Support organizational initiatives that enhance cybersecurity services, operational performance, and client success.
- Maintain strong working relationships across all business functions to drive integrated solutions and operational effectiveness.
May perform other duties as assigned by management
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong knowledge of managed security services, including SOC operations, incident response, threat hunting, and modern threat detection methodologies.
- Ability to communicate cybersecurity concepts, service capabilities, and operational value to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of MSP operating models and the delivery of cybersecurity services across multi-customer environments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and scale service offerings, operational frameworks, and customer engagement models.
- Experience supporting business development activities, client pursuits, and growth initiatives within cybersecurity services environments.
- Strong business acumen with experience identifying growth opportunities, supporting revenue objectives, and expanding customer relationships.
- Executive-level communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to balance strategic business objectives with hands-on technical leadership and problem solving.
- Demonstrated success developing operational metrics, KPIs, governance models, and performance management frameworks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and 10+ years of cybersecurity experience or Master's Degree and 8+ years related experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting managed security services, including SOC operations, incident response, and related cybersecurity service delivery functions. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and operational value to MSP stakeholders and prospective clients.
- Demonstrated success supporting the development, enhancement, and operational delivery of managed security service offerings.
- Experience managing customer relationships within managed security services environments, including MSP-focused service delivery, customer success, and operational engagement activities.
- Proven success supporting client pursuits, RFP responses, proposal development, executive presentations, service solutioning, and contract discussions with internal and client stakeholders.
- Experience leading technical teams and developing cybersecurity professionals.
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), CISSP, GCFA, GMON, or equivalent cybersecurity certifications strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel as required to support client, partner, and business development activities.
