Job Summary:
The role is responsible for setting the strategic approach to supplier management and procurement relating to the component category. This role will have direct reports and is responsible to effectively lead the team to execute procurement and sourcing initiatives, purchasing products with consideration of cost, quality, and production time constraints. Will manage supplier relationships to develop partnerships, resolve quality or service issues, support supplier selection and supplier qualification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, mentor, and instruct a team of buyers to execute procurement processes effectively.
- Teach, train and mentor buyers on procurement strategies to achieve company goals and directives.
- Evaluate, qualify, and select suppliers for various projects.
- Maintain supplier relationships ensuring adherence to supplier metrics.
- Report on supplier performance using supplier scorecard tools.
- Negotiate costs and other commercial elements of a supply relationship.
- Resolves quality, delivery, and financial disputes with suppliers.
- Recognize and reconcile any potential order conflicts such as delivery/shipping delays, pricing errors, and out of stock situations.
- Monitors and develop inventory/stock levels to support production and inventory goals.
- Works with appropriate parties to resolve invoice discrepancies and 3-way match requirements.
- Ensures products/services get delivered on time and in time to meet quality standards.
- Sets up item and purchase requirements within ERP system.
- Learn and understand industry costs and constraints that may impact supply.
- Understands elements of global logistics including customs and tariffs and works with Logistics Specialist to manage inbound freight.
- Work with and lead cross functional teams to identify, develop and drive strategic programs focused on reducing overall cost structure and improved supplier performance.
- Collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs.
- Assists product development in sourcing new items and improvement of purchased items.
- Assist as needed with inventory management and warehouse activities (cycle counts, receiving and inspection).
- Support and assist the Procurement Manager and team as needed.

- Demonstrated experience managing turnkey packaging suppliers.
- Strong leader with proven track record of managing and developing large packaging projects.
- Demonstrated strong customer focus, decision-making, ownership and attention to detail

- Self- motivation and a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, meets deadlines, and is flexible while working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to investigate cost reduction opportunities and supplier's ability to meet quantity, delivery, quality, technical requirements, and resolution of vendor issues as they arise.
- Exceptional customer service skills - will have interactions with many levels of the organization including external customers and suppliers.
- Proficient in Windows based programs Microsoft Word / Microsoft Excel
- Perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of procuring cosmetics and/or personal care packaging in an MRP environment
- 5+ years of negotiation experience
- Experience with LEAN methodologies and/or similar applications.
- Experience with ERP Systems, specifically CSI preferred.

- Requires composure and ability to prioritize and handle many urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy
