Purpose of the role
The Managing Director, Head of ICB France is responsible for leading Barclays' International Corporate Banking franchise in France, driving sustainable growth, deepening client relationships, and ensuring the effective management of risk, conduct, and franchise reputation.
The role provides strategic leadership across the French corporate banking franchise, bringing together Coverage, Transaction Banking, Financing and Product partners to deliver Barclays' full capabilities to French corporate, multinational, institutional and public-sector clients. The individual will act as a senior representative of Barclays in France and contribute to the broader leadership of International Corporate Banking Europe.
Accountabilities
Franchise Leadership
- Lead and develop the France Corporate Banking franchise, delivering growth, returns and strategic objectives.
- Establish and execute a clear vision for the business aligned to Barclays Europe and International Corporate Banking priorities.
- Represent the France franchise internally and externally with clients, regulators, industry bodies and key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain Barclays' market profile and reputation across the French corporate sector.
Client Leadership
- Maintain senior Treasury level relationships with Barclays' most significant French and multinational clients.
- Drive commercial growth through coordinated delivery of Barclays' global banking, transaction banking and financing capabilities.
- Ensure teams proactively identify client opportunities arising from evolving market, regulatory and technological developments.
People Leadership
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team across Coverage and associated functions.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion and excellence.
- Coach and develop future leaders within the franchise and broader European Corporate Banking platform.
Risk and Control
- Own and oversee the performance, conduct and risk profile of the France franchise.
- Ensure effective governance, regulatory compliance and adherence to Barclays risk standards.
- Promote a strong culture of control, financial crime compliance and responsible growth.
Strategic and European Leadership
- Work closely with Barclays Europe and International Corporate Banking leadership teams to shape strategic priorities.
- Drive connectivity across France, Europe and the broader international network.
- Ensure France is positioned to capture opportunities arising from increasingly global client needs and industry developments.
- Collaborate effectively with product, investment banking and country leadership teams to maximise franchise value.
Managing Director Expectations

- Exercise management authority to make significant / complex business and strategic decisions that impact the Barclays Group, business division or function.
- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally and foster growth for Barclays business.
- Mandated as the business division/ functional spokesperson or representative to external bodies and shapes the public image of Barclays.
- Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of how business divisions and functions integrate with the Group to achieve the overall business objectives alongside industry theories and practices within own discipline.
- Maintain broad and comprehensive functional expertise and significant product knowledge.
- Accountable for the control and governance agenda of the business division / function.
- Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Managing Director with:
- Significant leadership experience in Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking or related client-facing businesses.
- Proven experience managing senior client relationships and complex stakeholder environments.
- Strong commercial acumen and a track record of delivering strategic growth.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and develop talent.
- Extensive knowledge of risk management, governance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience operating within international and matrix organisations.
