Job Description:

Summary:

The Undergraduate Administrative Assistant is an undergraduate student who will work with the School of International Service’s Department of Foreign Policy and Global Security. This position will help connect undergraduate SIS students who are interested in foreign policy, national security, and global security.

Essential Functions:

  • Brainstorm, plan and execute FPGS-related events for undergraduate students, alongside the Undergraduate Coordinator faculty member.

  • Coordinate with the Academic Program Coordinator to run events and order supplies as needed.

  • Advertise events and support outreach via social media and email campaigns.

  • Share special opportunities, announcements, and resources with undergraduate students interested in foreign policy.

  • Other administrative tasks relating to the execution and development of events and projects, as determined by the Undergraduate Coordinator and Academic Program Coordinator.

  • Generate promotional flyers for departmental events.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 5 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 - $18.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Current AU undergraduate student enrolled in the School of International Service.

  • Interest in Foreign Policy and National Security.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.

  • Knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Canva, and social media platforms.

  • Skilled with the Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior membership in FPGS’s previous “House of Owls” club a plus.

  • Prior administrative support or event coordination experience is helpful.
