A Day in Your Life at MKS:
The OPEX/Lean Engineer supports the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of Global OPEX/Lean programs across assigned manufacturing and service sites especially Batu Kawan. This role helps drive operational excellence by collaborating with site leaders and cross-functional teams to standardize best practices, implement Lean tools, improve process performance, and support a culture of continuous improvement. The position also contributes to training, program follow-up, and project execution to ensure Lean initiatives are effectively adopted and sustained across the organization.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Assist leadership in organizing and implementing Lean programs, processes, and systems to eliminate waste within the value streams and improve overall product quality, manufacturing capability, and process control.
Supports and helps lead, guide, energize, and execute lean service activities, including Industrial Engineering, kaizen and 6S activities, to continuously improve operations.
Identify opportunities to improve existing OPEX/Lean programs, increase adoption, and maximize benefits through Lean tools and strategies.
Support the implementation and standardization of best practices, projects, and programs for assigned manufacturing and service sites in Batu Kawan and APAC.
Partner with OPEX/Lean Management and site leaders to develop and deliver training that supports adoption of Lean continuous improvement methods and tools.
Monitor implemented programs, follow up on progress, and provide support as needed.
Assist the OPEX/Lean Manager in implementing programs, processes, and systems that eliminate non-value-added activities and optimize manufacturing and service processes
Support the coordination and execution of Lean activities and special projects based on site-specific needs
Coordinate, support and work closely with Manufacturing Engineering teams on Industrial Engineering related activities such as time study and work measurement, Layout design, automation support in digitization, material flow, capacity planning etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
1–2 years of technical manufacturing experience, including participation in or leadership of manufacturing improvement initiatives.
Basic Lean Manufacturing knowledge; Green Belt preferred.
Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools, including Kaizen, Toyota Production System, 5S, 8 Wastes, Value Stream Mapping and Six Sigma.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, Smartsheet, and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Knowledge of tools used to develop, implement, and sustain process improvements and best practices in manufacturing environments.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, operate with minimal supervision and communicate clearly across the organization, both verbally and in writing.
Act as a change agent by teaching, sharing knowledge, and communicating lessons learned.
Strong communication, interpersonal and influential skills. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Ability to identify improvement opportunities and develop practical solutions.
