Your Opportunity

Mission Australia Housing supports tenants and the local community through a mix of social and affordable housing, connected with community development and support services that help people build stability and independence.

As an Operations Manager with Mission Australia Housing, you will lead integrated housing services that support people to thrive, not just find a place to live. In this role, you will oversee Housing Services, Asset Services, and Community Development in Common Ground Housing First Model, bringing teams together to deliver high quality, compliant and community focused outcomes.

Working closely with government, partners and internal teams, you will drive high quality, compliant service delivery while strengthening outcomes for tenants and communities. This is an opportunity to lead a service that is embedded in the local community, shaping how housing and support come together to create lasting impact.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and develop a high performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, openness and continuous learning
  • Ensure effective delivery across housing, asset and community development services through an integrated service model
  • Drive operational performance against KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing action plans
  • Manage budgets, financial performance and reporting in line with organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government, funders, regulators and community partners
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to design and enhance service delivery aligned to evidence and best practice
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of team members to support service excellence
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulatory frameworks and contractual obligations
  • Use data and insights to inform decisions, improve outcomes and support community impact
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and embed a strong customer and community focus

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Leadership, Community Services, Humanities, Welfare or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated operational leadership experience, ideally within social or affordable housing
  • Experience managing complex programs, budgets and performance reporting framework
  • Strong understanding of housing operations, tenancy management or asset management practices
  • Ability to build and sustain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Strong leadership capability, including coaching, performance management and change leadership
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead within complex, evolving environments
  • Valid Driver’s licence and WWCC

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Your benefits

  • Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
  • Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave
