ICET Assembly Technician

JOB SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of this position to create panels and electrical system layouts consistent with GasTech design and process standards, including all client-specific design requirements. Working under general supervision, this position performs Instrument and Electrical tasks necessary to properly control equipment operation, translating engineering documentation into correctly constructed equipment. This includes assembly of panels, shielded assemblies, and electrical assemblies using consumables, parts, control elements, and sensing elements according to qualified procedures, codes, and control documents, within the time allocated in the production schedule and in accordance with GasTech Quality Requirements. It is the goal of the position to help establish GasTech Engineering as the most highly respected process equipment group in the industries and for the clients we serve.

PRINCIPAL   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Reading electrical schematics/wire diagrams.
• Reading/interpreting P&IDs, and Fabrication drawings.
• Point to point wiring of power & control wiring.
• Install instruments/controllers/panel components.
• Running conduit, wire trays, & supports.
• Terminating twisted pairs.
• Terminating multi-conductor/potted/Okonite.
• Performing all electrical and panel checks under general supervision.
• Performing all aspects of panel or electrical equipment fabrication.
• Supporting team leads and senior technicians as directed.
• Applying knowledge of applicable Codes to assigned work.
• Ability to make correct decisions to provide a product that is acceptable and valued by the end user.
• Completing tasks accurately and efficiently within the production schedule.
• Maintaining proper professional housekeeping standards in the shop area.
• Working safely and following all GasTech safety protocols at all times.
• Maintaining reliable and punctual attendance with a positive and cooperative attitude.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• A high school or vocational school diploma or equivalent is required. 
• Vocational electrical or controls background is preferred but not required. 
• Working knowledge of electrical and controls automation for automation equipment manufacturing is required. 
• An ability to operate tools and machinery safely as well as follow all safety protocols in our shop area is required.
• The ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality is required.
• The ability to remain organized with a keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is required. 
• The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines utilizing excellent time management skills is required.
• Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required.
• A working knowledge of electrical parts supply, nomenclature, and controls component functions, including PLCs, relays, motors starters, VFDs, valve actuators, communication programs and interfaces, is required.
• The ability to work under general supervision and to deliver assignments to meet due dates is required. 
• Effective problem-solving skills, while remaining creative and innovative, are required. 
• The ability to effectively communicate concepts to both internal and external customers is required. 
• Previous experience with NEC and UL/CSA Codes and working in an ISO 9001 environment is preferred but not required. 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

• Our office provides common office equipment such as computers, printers, and copiers for staff to use as needed.
• Routine work and staff interactions within our office environment occur daily therefore regular and reliable attendance is required. 
• Frequent work with our manufacturing staff may be needed in our shop area, which is a non-climate controlled heavy construction and fabrication environment. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Long hours wiring and intricate connections require fine dexterity use of hands/fingers for sustained periods of time.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.
• The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to follow all safety protocols while in our shop area.
