We are looking for a CAD Technician 1 for the following shift:
First Shift: 7:00 AM EST – 3:30 PM EST
Full-Time: Monday – Friday + Overtime as Needed
OnSite: Tampa, Florida

JOB SUMMARY
The CAD Technician supports engineering, facilities, operations, and automation projects by creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawings for manufacturing facilities across multiple company locations. Based in Tampa, this role will primarily utilize 2D AutoCAD to update facility layouts, production line drawings, equipment layouts, safety plans, and construction-related documentation.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering & Operations Technology team to maintain accurate facility records, support capital projects, and develop drawings required for operational, safety, and regulatory purposes. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career CAD professional to gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing, automation, facility planning, and construction projects.
Training and mentorship will be provided by senior engineering staff.
Essential Duties
- Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then with guidance identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, finished goods or equipment to machines, loading docks, and storage areas.
- Applies general industry understandings of machine loading capacities and/or truck loading schedules, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Utilizes basic understandings to properly apply protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure outgoing loads.
- Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, strapping and pallet debris to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Follows instructions and adheres to Standard Operating Procedures for operating equipment and keeping records.
- Seeks and follows guidance from higher-ranking forklift operators for executing efficiencies in material handling duties within the warehouse and production areas.
- Utilizes an RF scan gun for basic inventory tracking purposes.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to leadership in the department.
- Consistently performs daily forklift inspections at the start of the scheduled shift.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Essential Responsibilities
CAD Drafting & Drawing Updates
- Create, revise, and maintain 2D AutoCAD drawings for facilities, production areas, and equipment layouts.
- Update facility floor plans, production line layouts, utility drawings, and equipment location drawings.
- Ensure drawing accuracy and adherence to established company standards.
Automation & Manufacturing Layout Support
- Assist with development of automation and production line layouts.
- Incorporate OEM equipment drawings into facility and line layouts.
- Help document material flow and operational improvements.
Facility & Construction Project Support
- Support facility renovation, expansion, and new construction projects.
- Assist with developing equipment layouts and space utilization studies.
- Incorporate field measurements and project information into facility drawings.
- Coordinate drawing updates based on contractor and engineering feedback.
Safety & Regulatory Documentation
- Create and maintain emergency evacuation maps and safety egress drawings.
- Support preparation of drawings required for environmental, safety, permitting, and regulatory purposes.
- Maintain accurate facility records supporting compliance initiatives.
Drawing Management
- Maintain organized electronic drawing files and project documentation.
- Support revision control and drawing updates across multiple facilities.
- Ensure drawing files remain accessible and current.
Site Support
- Conduct field verification and basic site measurements when needed.
- Travel periodically to company facilities to gather information and verify layouts.
- Support installation and project teams during facility modifications and equipment moves.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Understanding of basic drafting principles and drawing standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or 1-3 years of CAD experience.
- Experience using AutoCAD in industrial, manufacturing, construction, or facilities environments.
- Familiarity with facility layouts, floor plans, or construction drawings.
- Exposure to manufacturing operations or automation systems.
- Experience conducting field measurements and maintaining as-built drawings.

- Safety, evacuation, and regulatory drawings are maintained and current.
- Drawing files are organized, up to date, and easily accessible.
- New facility and equipment changes are documented accurately.
Travel: Occasional travel to Charleston, SC and Los Angeles, CA facilities as required
