Title: Director of Fund Development
Reports to: Chief Relationship Officer
Supervises: Fund Development Manager – Individual Giving & Fundraising Events, Fund Development Manager – Data Management & Prospect Research
Position: Full-Time, salaried
Location: Hybrid, Leadership Center Tampa, FL
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Director of Fund Development leads the day-to-day operations of the Fund Development Department and drives execution of the Council’s fundraising strategy across corporate partnerships, individual giving, campaigns, donor and alumnae engagement, sponsorships, fundraising events, prospect research, and development operations.
Working closely with the Chief Relationship Officer and CEO, the Director provides strong team leadership, manages an assigned donor and sponsor portfolio, and ensures fundraising priorities move from strategy to results. The Director oversees the donor lifecycle from prospecting and cultivation through solicitation, stewardship, recognition, and renewal, with a strong focus on pipeline growth and moves management.
The Director also leads key fundraising initiatives, including Daisy’s Circle, Proud Girl Scout Supporter, alumnae engagement, Women of Distinction, and sponsorship opportunities connected to Council signature events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Fund Development Department.
- Supervise, coach, and develop both Fund Development Managers, ensuring strong coordination across data management, prospect research, individual giving, and fundraising events.
- Manage department priorities, timelines, workflow, and accountability.
- Lead fundraising events, donor experiences, and sponsor engagement, including Women of Distinction and Council signature events.
- Oversee corporate partnerships, sponsorships, individual giving, recurring giving, campaigns, donor retention, alumnae engagement, prospect research, and development operations.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of donors, sponsors, and prospects from cultivation through renewal.
- Drive moves management and monitor pipeline activity, proposals, sponsorships, renewals, and revenue progress.
- Oversee development of proposals, sponsorship materials, donor communications, and fundraising collateral.
- Ensure effective prospect research, donor data management, CRM integrity, and fundraising reporting.
- Prepare the CEO and Chief Relationship Officer for priority donor and sponsor meetings.
- Partner with Marketing, Programs, Camps, Membership, Finance, and other teams to support fundraising opportunities and deliver strong donor and sponsor experiences.
- Ensure timely gift processing, acknowledgment, stewardship, recognition, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate fundraising reports, dashboards, forecasts, and CRM records.
- Identify fundraising risks and opportunities and recommend actions to the Chief Relationship Officer.
- Represent the Council professionally with donors, sponsors, alumnae, volunteers, and community partners.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Five or more years of progressive nonprofit fundraising or development experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory and people leadership experience required.
- Proven success managing donor and sponsor portfolios from cultivation through renewal.
- Experience with corporate partnerships, individual giving, sponsorships, campaigns, fundraising events, and development operations.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, or a comparable fundraising CRM preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership, project management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze fundraising performance, and drive accountability.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use a computer and other office equipment, and occasionally lift or carry materials for up to 20 pounds.
Other Requirements
- Must maintain current Girl Scouts of the USA membership throughout employment.
- Must successfully complete required background screening and other employment-related requirements.
- Must reside in Florida within the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida service area, in accordance with Council policy.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Council requirements for driving on Council business, when driving is required to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule and report to the Leadership Center.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend meetings, donor engagements, and events.
Starting annualized salary: $60,000.00
