Description

Annual Salary Range: $152,941.28 - $236,851.88
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Monterey, CA.
About the Position:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Power Services, the Manager of Market Operations leads 3CE’s front-office market and asset operations. The role owns the CAISO and scheduling-coordinator interface, COA and CC Power operations, asset-operations direction, operational readiness, issue escalation, performance monitoring and contract-operations handoffs. The Manager of Market Operations supervises the Power Resources Markets Manager and the Power Supply Asset Manager.
This is a front-office management class. The Manager of Market Operations explains market and asset drivers; the back office independently validates and controls the financial record.
3CE is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through local control of utility-scale renewable electricity generation, investment in new renewable power projects, and the implementation of innovative energy programs that facilitate the electrification of transportation and the built environment. 3CE promotes long-term electric rate stability and energy security while reducing reliance on fossil fuels and stimulating the local economy.
- Lead market operations and the CAISO / scheduling-coordinator interface, including operational issue identification, escalation and resolution.
- Direct asset operations through the Power Supply Asset Manager; oversee operational readiness and performance monitoring.
- Coordinate COA and CC Power operational execution and joint arrangements.
- Own contract-operations handoffs and ensure operational obligations from executed contracts are implemented.
- Direct dashboard and operational-analytics development and the transition of consultant/vendor analytics in-house.
- Provide operational facts, asset-event context and CAISO driver explanations to Settlements — without holding sole settlement-approval authority.
- Supervise assigned front-office market/asset staff; perform related duties as required.
- CAISO market operations, scheduling-coordinator functions, telemetry, outages and real-time dispatch.
- Asset operations and generation/storage performance, including BESS and hybrid resources.
- Wholesale power markets, COA/CC Power arrangements and operational risk.
- Settlement mechanics sufficient to explain operational drivers, without owning settlement controls.
- Lead market and asset operations and resolve complex operational issues under time pressure.
- Maintain a clean separation between operational explanation and independent settlement validation.
- Manage staff, multiple priorities and consultant/vendor transitions.
- Communicate effectively with CAISO, scheduling coordinators, counterparties and internal teams.
- Be thorough and detail oriented.
- Apply strong task prioritization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Manage multiple priorities and quickly adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons encountered during the performance of duties.
- Take responsibility and work independently, as well as work as a team member.
- Perform quantitative data and statistical analysis and effectively communicate results to others.
- Work accurately and swiftly under pressure.
- Demonstrate patience, tact and courtesy.
- Deliver clear oral communications.
