What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role requires ownership of the full software lifecycle, from design and coding to deployment and maintenance, while ensuring alignment with architectural best practices. You will mentor engineering teams, drive technical decisions, and collaborate across functions to translate complex requirements into effective solutions. Your expertise will support continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence, contributing to Walmart’s technology strategy and business objectives.
About the team:
The Global Security & Investigations Technology team develops intelligent, scalable platforms that enable Walmart to anticipate, prevent, and respond to security and operational risks. Utilizing AI-driven innovation, data insights, and resilient engineering, the team supports investigators, security operators, and aviation units by enhancing decision-making, automating processes, and ensuring compliance. Focused on platform design, software development, and continuous improvement, the team delivers secure, scalable solutions that drive global business growth and operational excellence. Collaboration, technical leadership, and innovation are key to advancing technology-enabled security capabilities worldwide.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and AI, ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components to support automation and multi-step reasoning.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and track success metrics.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, Front end and back end design and development, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to mentor and coach engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting engineering excellence.
- Skilled in data-driven decision making to define metrics and optimize development processes.
- Demonstrated innovation mindset with continuous improvement in tooling and platform capabilities.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
