Responsibilities
Ground Beef Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide total ownership of all key performance indicators (KPIs) within the department — including but not limited to yields, labor, efficiencies, downtime, packaging cost, safety, and retention
Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet or exceed planned production targets
Ensure product quality, food safety, and consistency in accordance with USDA, HACCP, and company requirements
Monitor yields, labor, and downtime to drive continuous improvement in efficiency and performance
Lead, coach, and develop production employees to build a high-performing and safety-conscious team
Oversee and direct production employees’ daily activities, schedules, timekeeping, and attendance
Identify training needs and assist in developing cross-training programs for team flexibility
Collaborate with superintendent to improve scheduling, staffing, and operational planning
Conduct pre-operational checks and verify equipment readiness for production startup
Partner with Maintenance and QA to minimize downtime and resolve process or equipment issues quickly
Maintain accurate production and performance records, including yields, rework, and waste tracking
Promote and enforce company policies, GMPs, safety procedures, and sanitation standards
Participate in daily production meetings and communicate key metrics, issues, and action plans
Ensure packaging and labeling accuracy for all SKUs in compliance with specification
Identify and recommend cost controls and other improvements to processes
Oversee projects to ensure timely and successful completion
Other duties as assigned
This is a safety sensitive position. This is an on-site position.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates for the Ground Beef Supervisor position should possess the following:
Thorough understanding of beef plant environment and significant department job knowledge
Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
Proficient with MS Office or related software to complete reports and logs
Ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team
Strong judgment and ability to make sound business decisions in a timely manner
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong listening and comprehension skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Qualified candidates for this position will be required to successfully complete the background check.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
