Why join us?

We’re on a mission to empower people with disabilities to do what they once did or never thought possible. As the world-leader in assistive communication solutions, we empower our customers to express themselves, connect with the world, and live richer lives.

At Tobii Dynavox, you can grow your career within a dynamic, global company that has a clear, impactful purpose - with the flexibility to also do what truly matters to you outside of work. What’s more, you’ll be part of a work culture where collaboration is the norm and individuality is welcomed.

As a member of our team, you’ll have the power to make it happen. You’ll solve challenges, deliver solutions and develop new, efficient processes that make a direct impact on our customers’ lives.

About the role

As an Assistive Technology Repair Technician, you will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and test assistive technology devices in an organised way so they can be returned to use safely and as soon as possible. You will report to our Repair Operations Lead and collaborate with colleagues across the Operations, Technical Support and Logistics teams, both locally and internationally, to manage repairs and communicate progress, delays and risks clearly.

Please note: This is a permanent, part-time and on-site role (3 days per week) based in our office in Tonsley, Adelaide with potential to go full-time in the future. Preferred start date is early December 2026.

In this role you will

  • Inspect devices and accessories, identify faults in components (LCDs, mainboards, etc.), and complete appropriate repairs in line with Tobii Dynavox procedures and quality requirements.
  • Support device configuration activities (Windows licence, device testing, and quality checks etc.) and as needed, device assembly activities in line with Tobii Dynavox procedures and quality requirements.
  • Handle equipment, tools and components safely and maintain an orderly repair workspace.
  • Record assessments, work completed, parts used and repair outcomes accurately in relevant systems.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to resolve issues and return equipment within agreed service expectations.
  • Contribute practical ideas that improve repair quality, consistency, and customer outcomes.

Who you are

This role is well suited to a practical and detail-oriented person who approaches technical problems with curiosity and enjoys learning about assistive technology products and understanding user needs. You handle your work with care and structure, communicate clearly, and balance high-quality service with timely completion. You are comfortable following established processes, managing your own workload, and working hands-on with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates would bring

  • Certificate III in Electronics or a higher relevant qualification with a solid understanding of hardware diagnostics and device repair to diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Any hardware-related experience in repair, service or technical support. 2–4 years of experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ESD-safe work environments to use sensitive electronics, hand tools and test equipment safely.
  • Ability to follow structured troubleshooting methods, repair processes, and instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to complete repairs, functional checks and records.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and basic Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word) to collaborate effectively with local and global cross-functional teams in a service-focused environment.

The following experience would be valuable but is not required.

  • Experience with assistive technology equipment, medical devices, or other regulated hardware.
  • Foundational soldering skills or component-level repair knowledge.
  • Experience with any ticketing or ERP system such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.
