Description
About the Role
Looking to build a strong, well-rounded foundation in accounting? As our Accounting Clerk, you’ll get hands-on experience across every stage of the accounting cycle, from purchasing and payables to receivables and month-end close. Because we invest in technology and automation, you’ll spend less time on manual busywork and more time learning how the numbers come together. As half of our two-person accounting team, you’ll work directly with the Financial Controller, following clear, established procedures and learning hands-on as you go. You’ll also be part of a close-knit company who genuinely enjoy working together.
Why You’ll Love It
· The full accounting cycle. You won’t be siloed in one task. You’ll work across AP, AR, and month-end close, and see how it all connects.
· Modern tools, less busywork. We prioritize automation and modern systems like NetSuite and Medius, so your work stays varied and interesting.
· A small, fun team. We’re a close-knit group that works hard, helps each other out, and has fun doing it.
· Build real skills. This role is built for someone early in their career. You’ll learn by doing, with clear processes and people who want to see you develop.
What You’ll Do
· Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices and credits, and prepare vendor payments for review and approval, in accordance with established procedures.
· Support accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing, recording customer payments, preparing deposits for independent review, customer account maintenance, and routine collection follow-up.
· Review orders on credit hold and release qualifying orders strictly in accordance with documented criteria; refer exceptions for approval.
· Enter and categorize corporate credit card transactions and maintain supporting documentation.
· Complete assigned month-end tasks, such as reviewing open purchase orders pending billing and preparing other routine month end pre-work.
· Respond to routine vendor, customer, and internal accounting inquiries and assist with resolving straightforward transaction issues.
· Maintain organized, accurate accounting records and provide general administrative support to the accounting department.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
You don’t need years of experience. We’re looking for someone newer to their accounting career who’s curious, organized, and excited to grow their skills.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or accounting coursework preferred. Prior office or bookkeeping experience is a plus.
· Basic understanding of accounting concepts, such as debits and credits and how payables and receivables work.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort working in multiple software systems; NetSuite and Medius experience preferred but not required.
· Strong attention to detail and organization, and the ability to complete tasks accurately and on time.
· Ability to follow written procedures, protect confidential information, communicate clearly, and ask questions or escalate exceptions when needed.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position primarily involves computer-based office work and routine communication with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
