Macmillan Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Christie Private Care, Manchester
Permanent | Full time - Monday - Friday
Competitive salary + exceptional benefits

Cancer care is about far more than treatment alone. It's about helping people navigate uncertainty, making complex decisions feel clearer, and ensuring patients never feel like they're facing their diagnosis alone.

As a Macmillan Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist at The Christie Private Care, you'll become a trusted point of contact for patients throughout their cancer journey. You'll combine expert clinical knowledge with compassion, advocacy and personalised support, helping patients and their families navigate diagnosis, treatment and recovery with confidence

This is an opportunity to join a highly specialised service at a particularly exciting time. Working within a growing multidisciplinary team, you'll care for a diverse cohort of patients across the urology cancer pathway, supporting those undergoing surgery, radiotherapy, systemic anti-cancer therapies and other specialist interventions. No two days are the same, and the breadth of the role offers the opportunity to develop an exceptionally varied and rewarding specialist practice.

The Christie Private Care is a unique partnership between HCA Healthcare UK and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-renowned cancer expertise and outstanding private patient care. With diagnostics, inpatient care, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery and specialist support services available on one site, you'll work within an environment designed to provide seamless and personalised care for every patient.

For experienced nurses looking to take the next step in their career, this role offers the chance to influence patient outcomes, develop specialist expertise and help shape the future of an evolving service while remaining focused on delivering exceptional care where it matters most.

At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.

What you'll do

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you'll be a key worker throughout the patient pathway, providing expert support, coordinating care and ensuring patients have access to the information and services they need.

You will:

  • Manage a specialist caseload of patients with urological cancers, providing continuity of care throughout their treatment journey.
  • Undertake holistic assessments and provide expert clinical advice, education and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Work closely with consultants, surgeons, allied health professionals and wider multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care.
  • Support service development, quality improvement and innovation initiatives that enhance patient experience and outcomes.
  • Act as a specialist resource for colleagues, promoting best practice and contributing to education across the wider service

What you'll bring

We're looking for a compassionate and experienced nurse who enjoys building meaningful patient relationships and thrives in a role that combines advanced clinical practice, autonomy and collaboration.

You'll have:

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working within urology, oncology, cancer services or another relevant specialist area.
  • Experience managing complex patient pathways and providing holistic patient centred care.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to support patients through sensitive and challenging conversations.
  • The ability to work independently whilst building strong partnerships across multidisciplinary teams.

Why join us?

Few specialist nursing roles offer the opportunity to work across such a broad and varied patient pathway.

At The Christie Private Care, you'll support patients at every stage of their treatment journey, working alongside leading cancer specialists in a service recognised internationally for cancer care and innovation. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of treatments, complex clinical presentations and evolving therapies, enabling you to continually expand your expertise and develop as a specialist practitioner.

You'll also be joining an organisation that is committed to investing in its people. Through access to professional development opportunities, specialist training, research, service improvement projects and leadership development programmes, you'll be supported to build a career that reflects your ambitions and interests. Whether you're looking to deepen your clinical expertise or progress into a senior specialist role in the future, we'll support your development every step of the way.
