Description

At Arctic Wolf, you won’t just watch the cybersecurity industry evolve – you'll help lead the change. Our global Pack is made up of people who thrive on solving hard problems, moving fast, and building technology that protects organizations around the world. We’re proud to be recognized by Forbes, CNBC, Fortune, CRN, Gartner Peer Insights and IDC MarketScape – but what matters most is the work behind it: delivering real outcomes for customers through award winning innovation like our Aurora Platform.

If you’re looking for meaningful work, smart teammates and the chance to make a real impact in a high-growth company that’s redefining security operations, Arctic Wolf is the right place for you!

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Staff Developer - Exposure Management Platform to be part of making this happen.

Position Overview and Objective

The Arctic Wolf security operations platform ingests and processes upwards of 250 billion events a day from a wide variety of on-premise devices and cloud platforms. The security pipeline is a distributed system of loosely-coupled microservices that constitute our real-time analysis and threat detection systems. These services distill the incoming events into actionable intelligence that our Concierge Security Teams use to protect customers.
We are growing rapidly, with our data volume increasing ten-fold roughly every two years. We are looking for staff developers to join our pack and provide technical leadership for the architecture, reliability, and long-term evolution of our security platform. This particular role focuses on shaping technical strategy and end-to-end delivery for components of our Managed Risk Platform while driving cross-team alignment, reusable design patterns, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

As a  Staff Developer at Arctic Wolf, you will:

  • Lead large engineering projects and end-to-end delivery for exposure management and real-time threat analysis capabilities across multiple services or teams.
  • Create comprehensive high-level designs (HLDs), evaluate architectural trade-offs with incomplete information, and align solutions with platform architecture blueprints and long-term customer security objectives.
  • Develop reusable design patterns, frameworks, and technical standards that improve reliability, scalability, observability, performance, and maintainability across the domain.
  • Own incident findings and systemic fixes for production services, driving RCA, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across team-owned systems.
  • Unblock teams on complex technical challenges, recommend work breakdown and sequencing, and ensure delivery quality and timelines for major initiatives.
  • Coordinate architecture and dependencies across product, UX, security operations, DevOps, QA, and engineering partners to drive pragmatic cross-team alignment.
  • Mentor engineers and emerging technical leaders across functions, raising engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, workshops, and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience shipping production-quality backend software, with demonstrated ownership of large systems, domains, or multi-team initiatives in production.
  • Expert-level coding and system design skills with a track record of delivering scalable, maintainable, and reliable solutions to complex distributed-systems problems.
  • Broad experience designing, scaling, and operating cloud-based distributed systems, preferably on AWS, with strong judgment around reliability, cost, performance, security, and long-term maintainability.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Golang is preferred; deep Java or other backend development experience with the ability to work across languages is also valuable.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, and production observability practices is preferred.
  • Experienced creating HLDs, technical strategies, reusable patterns, and implementation approaches that guide multiple engineers or teams.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives, resolve ambiguous requirements, manage dependencies, and align stakeholders around pragmatic trade-offs.
  • Experienced in incident response, RCA, systemic reliability improvements, and operational excellence for high-scale production systems.
  • Passionate about mentoring engineers and emerging leaders, improving team practices, and growing technical capability across functions.
  • Excited to work at the intersection of big data, cybersecurity, and real-time systems while aligning technical decisions to customer security outcomes.

Our Technology Stack

Golang, Docker, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes/EKS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Java, Linux.

On-Camera Policy

To support a fair, transparent, and engaging interview experience, candidates interviewing remotely are expected to be on camera during all video interviews. Being on camera fosters authentic connection, improves communication, and allows for full engagement from both candidates and interviewers. We understand that technical, bandwidth, or location-related challenges may occasionally prevent video use. If this applies, candidates are required to notify us in advance so we can explore appropriate accommodations.
