Role Overview

As a Fire Alarm Project Manager, you will lead moderately complex Data Center fire alarm projects from initiation through completion. You will manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and customer expectations while coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered on time, in scope, and in line with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead moderately complex fire alarm projects with medium to high corporate priority.
  • Define project scope, identify risks, allocate resources, and support project methodology and delivery planning.
  • Oversee project progression from design through permits, material delivery, labor scheduling, field installation, testing, and closeout.
  • Maintain control of schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct Work in Progress meetings and provide clear project updates to management and customers.
  • Follow published codes, standards, unique project specifications, AHJ requirements, and departmental procedures.
  • Coordinate change orders, manage vendor relationships when required, and support margin improvement on every job.
  • Represent Johnson Controls professionally in customer, architect, engineer, and internal team interactions.

How You Will Do It

  • Take ownership of project outcomes by tracking schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer expectations with consistency and accountability.
  • Stay close to the work by coordinating design details, permits, procurement, labor plans, and field activity so issues are identified early and removed quickly.
  • Use clear, candid communication in WIP meetings, status reviews, and customer discussions to keep everyone aligned on progress, risks, and next steps.
  • Continuously improve project execution by resolving issues early, following through on commitments, and applying lessons learned to future work.
  • Work as one team with customers, vendors, field teams, and internal partners to deliver a professional and dependable project experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience as a project manager or in design work within the FIRE ALARM protection industry.
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure and manage conflict resolution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects at the same time.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
  • Ability to create tracking spreadsheets, reference data across spreadsheets, and build macros as needed.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and self-motivation.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, or equivalent field.
  • Five years of fire protection, construction, or related project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand complex architectural, mechanical, and electrical building documents.
  • Knowledge of standards, Underwriter’s requirements, and applicable building codes.
  • NICET Fire Alarm and/or security product knowledge.
