Chief Engineer – JLL

 

What this job involves: JLL is seeking a skilled and hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and performance of critical building systems across assigned facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations through proactive maintenance planning, team leadership, and strong technical execution. The Chief Engineer will lead a team of maintenance professionals, manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs, support financial and operational goals, and maintain compliance with safety standards and operating procedures. This position is ideal for a proactive leader with strong HVAC expertise, broad technical knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced facilities environment.

 

What your day-to-day will look like:

 

• Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and ensure all work is tracked through the CMMS platform.
• Lead, mentor, and support a team of maintenance engineers and technicians to ensure high performance and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, site SOPs, and JLL operational standards across all facility operations.
• Coordinate and respond to building emergencies, including participation in an on-call rotation and emergency response activities.
• Manage vendor relationships, oversee service providers, and support the execution of facility projects and repairs.
• Collaborate with facility management teams to support budgeting, operational planning, KPI performance, and client satisfaction goals.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Associate degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent combination of technical training and work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of facility maintenance experience with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Universal CFC Certification required.
• Strong technical expertise in HVAC systems maintenance and troubleshooting, with working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
• Experience using CMMS platforms for work order management and preventative maintenance tracking; Corrigo experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, make sound operational decisions, and effectively manage multiple priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and team members.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience working in critical facilities, laboratory environments, or high-rise commercial buildings.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• General knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and facility operational metrics.
• Experience supporting major maintenance or capital improvement projects.
• Demonstrated ability to train and mentor technical staff through hands-on leadership.
• Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, emergency call-ins, and travel between sites as needed.

Work Shift: May require on-call support, overtime, and flexibility based on operational needs.
