Description

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Field Engineer to support daily Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI), quality checks, and field-level technical activities for our Battery Swapping Station Project across the Delhi-NCR region.
This is a predominantly field-based role requiring frequent visits to vendor locations, fabrication facilities, installation sites, and project locations.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, mechanical assemblies, quality inspection procedures, and technical documentation. The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving product designs and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI) & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct daily PDI activities for battery swapping station components and assemblies.
  • Inspect fabricated and assembled components against approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Identify manufacturing defects, dimensional deviations, finishing issues, and assembly-related non-conformities.
  • Verify product quality, functionality, workmanship, and readiness before dispatch.
  • Prepare PDI reports, inspection checklists, and quality documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure timely closure of inspection observations.
2. Sheet Metal Fabrication & Mechanical Inspection
  • Inspect sheet metal fabrication processes, including:
    • Laser cutting and dimensional accuracy
    • Sheet metal bending and forming
    • Welding quality and structural integrity
    • Mechanical assembly and component fitment
    • Powder coating, surface finishing, and visual quality
  • Verify fabricated components against engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Identify manufacturing defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with fabrication vendors to resolve quality concerns.
3. Field Operations & Project Coordination
  • Travel extensively across Delhi-NCR for daily inspections and project-related field activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, manufacturing partners, and internal project teams.
  • Support on-site quality checks, mechanical inspections, and issue resolution at battery swapping station locations.
  • Track inspection schedules, report issues, and ensure timely project execution.
  • Provide field-level feedback to engineering and product development teams for continuous product improvement.
4. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate PDI reports, inspection records, photographs, checklists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Ensure proper documentation in accordance with company guidelines and quality procedures.
  • Maintain daily inspection status reports and communicate pending observations.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions and verify closure of identified defects.
  • Ensure proper traceability of inspection findings and approvals.
5. Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Adapt to frequent product modifications, engineering changes, and evolving project requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality, Production, Design, Engineering, and Project Execution teams.
  • Recommend improvements in fabrication quality, inspection methods, and operational efficiency.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for recurring quality issues.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including laser cutting, bending, welding, assembly, and powder coating.
  • Practical experience in PDI, quality inspection, mechanical assembly inspection, or manufacturing quality control.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of quality inspection methods, defect identification, and non-conformance reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and basic reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and systematic documentation skills.
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and vendor coordination abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage daily field inspections and reporting.
  • Flexibility to adapt to an agile work environment and continuous product evolution.

Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Experience: 2–5 years in field quality inspection, PDI, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience in EV infrastructure, battery swapping stations, electrical enclosures, sheet metal cabinets, or industrial equipment manufacturing will be an added advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel extensively across Delhi-NCR on a daily basis.
  • Comfortable working at vendor facilities, manufacturing units, and project installation sites.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Two-wheeler and valid driving licence preferred for field mobility.
  • Willingness to accommodate urgent inspections and changing project priorities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Completion of daily PDI activities as per project schedules.
  • Accuracy and completeness of inspection reports.
  • Timely identification and closure of quality deviations.
  • Reduction in recurring fabrication and assembly defects.
  • Adherence to company quality standards and documentation procedures.
  • Effective coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.
