Description
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the plant EHS strategy and governance, ensuring alignment with Goodyear’s global and regional EHS standards, business priorities, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Driving a strong safety culture across the plant, embedding a proactive, ownership-driven approach to risk prevention, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Leading the implementation of the GHS and EMS audit framework, ensuring sustained compliance, effective governance, and timely closure of identified gaps.
- Ensuring compliance with mandatory MSRs, MERs, and applicable EHS standards, while driving continuous improvement in plant safety and environmental performance.
- Leading the deployment of Absolute Safety principles across the plant, covering critical risk areas such as LOTO, hot work, machine safety, PIV, working at height, electrical safety, vehicle safety, and other high-risk activities.
- Providing strategic direction on risk management, ensuring robust Risk Assessments, JSAs, HSE Plans, and On-Site Emergency Plans are developed, implemented, and periodically reviewed.
- Leading the plant emergency preparedness and response framework, including periodic mock drills, emergency response capability, fire prevention, and business continuity readiness.
- Driving compliance and continuous improvement of Safety and Environmental SOPs, OCPs, and ISO 14001 requirements, ensuring effective implementation across functions.
- Building EHS capability across employees, contractors, and leaders through structured induction, training, awareness programs, Absolute Safety initiatives, and targeted capability-building interventions.
- Leading the Contractor Safety Management System, ensuring contractors understand, comply with, and consistently demonstrate the required EHS standards.
- Driving employee engagement and EHS communication through Safety Alerts, newsletters, campaigns, shop-floor engagement, and other communication platforms to strengthen safety ownership.
- Leading plant-wide EHS campaigns and engagement initiatives, including Safety Week, Environment Day, Fire Safety Week, and other initiatives that reinforce the EHS culture.
- Establishing an effective EHS audit and assurance framework, ensuring regular shop-floor audits, identification of systemic risks, action tracking, and sustainable closure of findings.
- Chairing and facilitating the EHS Committee governance process, ensuring effective review of EHS performance, decision-making, accountability, and timely closure of key actions.
- Ensuring effective administration of First Aid and occupational emergency response capabilities, maintaining readiness across the plant.
- Providing governance over EHS documentation and management systems, ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and compliance of ISO, Global Health & Safety, and other critical EHS documentation.
- Leading statutory and regulatory compliance, ensuring the plant remains compliant with applicable Factory Act, environmental, safety, and other legal requirements.
- Managing relationships with regulatory and statutory authorities on environmental and EHS matters, including ETP, stack emissions, water cess, Consent to Operate, statutory reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
- Driving Layered Process Audit (LPA) governance and effectiveness, ensuring accountability across functions and sustained adherence to defined standards.
- Embedding environmental responsibility into plant operations, ensuring business activities are assessed for environmental impact and appropriate controls are implemented.
- Leading execution of the EHS Regional Plan, translating regional priorities into plant-level objectives, actions, and measurable outcomes.
- Partnering with Engineering and plant leadership on EHS CapEx planning, prioritization, execution, and reporting to ensure investments address critical EHS risks and strategic priorities.
- Leading the plant incident management process, ensuring timely investigation, robust root-cause analysis, effective CAPA, and implementation of preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Developing, coaching, and empowering the EHS team, establishing clear roles and accountabilities, building technical and leadership capability, and ensuring effective deployment of resources.
- Driving sustainable waste management and environmental improvement, including waste minimization, recycling, reuse, and effective control of environmental spills and other environmental risks.
- Leading the plant ergonomics agenda, ensuring systematic identification and mitigation of ergonomic risks through assessments, improvement initiatives, and best-practice deployment.
- Partnering with plant leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to integrate EHS considerations into operational and business decisions, ensuring safety and environmental performance remains a shared organizational responsibility.
- Monitoring and improving plant EHS performance, using data, trends, audits, incidents, and leading indicators to identify systemic opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintaining overall accountability for plant EHS performance, ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, employee engagement, and a culture of zero harm.
