Payroll Tax Filing – Multiple Openings and Levels
About the Role
We’re hiring multiple positions across our Payroll Tax Filing team at the Analyst, Senior Analyst, and Manager levels.
We’re looking for people who understand tax filing from end to end, from preparing and reviewing returns through filing, payment, issue resolution, and compliance support. Payroll tax experience is preferred, but we also welcome candidates from public accounting and other tax environments who bring broad, hands-on filing knowledge.
The scope of responsibility will vary by level. Depending on the role, you may handle filings directly, serve as a subject matter expert, support client delivery, improve processes, or lead and develop a team.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities will vary by level and may include:
- Prepare, review, submit, and track tax filings, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and compliant.
- Support end-to-end filing processes, including reconciliations, payments, notices, amendments, quarter-end, and year-end activities.
- Work across applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Research and resolve filing discrepancies, notices, client questions, and escalations.
- Partner with clients and internal teams, such as payroll, client service, and compliance, to resolve issues and improve delivery.
- Use tax filing systems and reporting tools to manage work and maintain accurate records.
- Document procedures and follow standard operating procedures.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
- Support system testing, training, and implementation for new clients, workflows, or system updates.
- At the Senior Analyst and Manager levels, provide subject matter guidance, coordinate work, and support client meetings.
- At the Manager level, lead team operations, coach and develop colleagues, monitor performance, and drive quality and service improvements.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience with end-to-end tax filing, including preparation or review, submission, and follow-through on filing issues.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and clear communication.
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with tax or financial systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- U.S. payroll tax filing experience across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Experience in public accounting or another tax environment with broad filing responsibilities.
- Client-facing experience.
- Experience with tax filing software; MasterTax and ADP SmartCompliance are preferred.
- Experience with quarterly and year-end filing processes, reconciliations, payments, notices, or amendments.
- Advanced degree and/or certification in a related field.
Scope by Level
- Analyst: Applies tax filing knowledge to complete assigned work accurately and on time; investigates routine discrepancies and escalates complex issues.
- Senior Analyst: Independently manages more complex filing work, supports client and internal inquiries, and shares subject matter expertise with colleagues.
- Manager: Leads day-to-day team delivery, develops people, manages escalations and performance, and drives operational quality and process improvement.
Relevant experience and leadership expectations will be considered in relation to the level of the opening.
Core Competencies
- End-to-end understanding of tax filing and a commitment to accurate, compliant work.
- Client-focused service and sound judgment when resolving issues.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to manage deadlines.
- Collaborative communication with clients and cross-functional partners.
- A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to adapt as processes and systems change.
