Description
The IT Security Technician plays a key role on the Information Technology Security team in designing, implementing, and supporting security strategies across the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC), the Unified Judicial System network, and various court agency systems. Reporting directly to the Security Supervisor, this position maintains perimeter and cybersecurity infrastructure, deploys new defense technologies, and mitigates threats. The role performs a broad range of technical security duties—from daily monitoring and maintenance to active incident response—to protect a complex, multifaceted statewide judicial network.
Job Duties
- Configures and maintains enterprise security infrastructures to deliver seamless network security services for the AOPC, UJS networks as well as court and state agencies.
- Develops, configures, implements and maintains system security standards, policies, procedures, systems, Wide-Area Network (WAN), Local-Area Network (LAN) and Internet access to AOPC or court agency systems ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks, servers and data.
- Identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the AOPC, Unified Judicial System networks and other agencies using security logs, network analysis, and observations; plans and implements solutions to mitigate or eliminate those risks.
- Performs technical log reviews and investigations for security products regularly.
- Provides support for the administration and operational oversight of the AOPC and Supreme Court security endpoint protection programs.
- Assists in managing the enterprise security event correlation and incident response program covering 3,000+ networked hosts, conducts log analysis, researches event sources and determines and executes appropriate remediation or mitigation strategies.
- Receives and responds to internal tickets to resolve network and security issues.
- Assists in deploying complex security programs and developing business intelligence and threat analytics reports to address system-wide security issues.
- Communicates network security vulnerabilities and solutions to the Security Supervisor about application security, communications, and performance issues.
- Assists with the administration of the IT system security programs through routine system auditing and scans, penetration testing, active security monitoring and policy enforcement.
- Assists with the administration of the AOPC system and network vulnerability management program; scans UJS network-connected assets for known vulnerabilities; conducts industry and vendor research on identified vulnerabilities and works with technical staff to remediate them.
- Assists in the disaster recovery planning and execution of security-related services.
- Provides 24/7 support for network and security-related issues and deployments for AOPC, Unified Judicial System networks, and statewide agencies.
- Responsible for after-hours support by carrying a mobile phone at all times, responding to critical and non-critical security-related issues for the AOPC, Unified Judicial System networks and state agencies.
- Promotes security awareness for security issues and ensures sound security principles are reflected in the organization's vision.
- Assists with the design, creation, testing, and deployment of network firewall rules on all firewalls.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in any information technology (IT) field; AND
- Three years of experience performing technical work in IT security, network support, or network administration.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and / or training may be considered.

Starting Annual Salary Range: $61,926 - $75,020
