Location: Buffalo, NY

 

Job Summary

Our Client is seeking a PeopleSoft Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the performance, availability, security, and integrity of the Oracle databases underlying the PeopleSoft ERP environment. This role manages database administration, backup and recovery, environment refreshes, and performance tuning across all PeopleSoft instances, including production, test, development, and sandbox environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Oracle databases supporting PeopleSoft HCM and Financials/FSCM environments, including installations, patches, and upgrades.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively tune queries, indexes, and system resources to maintain SLA-level availability.
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery procedures for all PeopleSoft database environments.
  • Perform environment refreshes, including production-to-test/development cloning, in coordination with functional and technical leads.
  • Apply database security controls and support access-provisioning requests in coordination with the Security Administrator.
  • Support PeopleTools and application patching cycles from a database perspective, including pre- and post-patch validation.
  • Troubleshoot database-level incidents and participate in root-cause analysis for production issues.
  • Maintain database documentation, including environment inventories, configuration standards, and disaster-recovery runbooks.
  • Coordinate with hosting/managed-service partners on infrastructure-level database issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of Oracle database administration experience, including experience supporting PeopleSoft or similar ERP environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle backup/recovery tools (RMAN), performance tuning, and environment refresh/cloning processes.
  • Experience with database security, encryption, and access-control best practices.
  • Ability to work off-hours as needed to support maintenance windows, patching, and incident response for a 24/7 environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle certification (OCA/OCP) or equivalent.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft-specific database utilities, including Data Mover, PTF, and Change Assistant.
  • Experience supporting cloud-hosted or managed-service ERP database environments.
  • Higher-education or regulated-industry database administration experience.
