Description

The Louvain-la-Neuve and Mont Saint Guibert sites are a strategic hub within dsm-firmenich's Taste, Texture & Health (TTH) business, combining innovation, manufacturing, and a strong commitment to safe and sustainable operations. As the site continues to modernize through significant investments, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) remains a critical enabler of operational excellence.

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring SHE Manager to lead and shape all Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) activities at our Belgium sites. In this key leadership role, you will drive a strong safety culture, foster employee engagement, and champion continuous improvement across all SHE programs.

You will define and execute the local SHE roadmap, ensuring the effective deployment, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of company SHE requirements and applicable regulatory standards. Through your leadership and influence, you will support the site in achieving its SHE objectives while promoting a proactive and sustainable approach to risk management and operational excellence.

Working closely with both the site leadership team and employees on the shop floor, you will act as a trusted partner, inspiring safe behaviors and driving SHE performance at all levels of the organization. Reporting directly to the Site Director, you will also be an active member of regional and global SHE networks, collaborating with peers worldwide and contributing to the broader SHE community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build strong relationships across the organization, coaching, influencing and supporting stakeholders at all levels to strengthen SHE leadership, ownership and culture.
  • Develop and execute the site's SHE roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders, aligned with business priorities, regional and global strategies, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Translate SHE strategy into clear site objectives, action plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure the effective implementation, training and verification of Life Saving Rules, driving compliance and sustainable behavioural change.
  • Lead and oversee key SHE improvement projects, while providing expert SHE input to capital investment and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Drive SHE performance through effective monitoring, reporting, KPI management and continuous improvement actions.
  • Lead and participate in audits, assessments and inspections to evaluate compliance, identify risks and strengthen the effectiveness of the SHE management system.
  • Lead the local Safety Council, facilitating governance routines, driving accountability and ensuring the successful execution of site SHE priorities.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees, encouraging open reporting, and ensuring lessons learned are embedded into daily operations.

YOU BRING

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • OHS/SHE qualification; Safety Engineer certification is an advantage.
  • 5+ years of operational leadership experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or food industry; flavors experience is a plus.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach and strong execution skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Data-driven, analytical, and solution-oriented.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in cross-functional teams within a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Proficient in standard computer applications and reporting tools.
