Salary: R900k to R1.18mil per annum

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Paymenow is South Africa’s leading earned wage access company, dedicated to financial

wellness and inclusion. We are seeking a Senior .NET Developer with a minimum of 10 years of

professional experience to join our team. This role requires deep technical expertise in C# and

the .NET framework, coupled with strong hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure services,

and SQL Server. You will play a key role in designing, developing, deploying, and managing

scalable applications, with the opportunity to contribute to architectural decisions and lead

initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable .NET (C#) applications.

• Architect and manage Azure cloud resources including:

o App Services, Azure Functions, Web Jobs, Logic Apps, Key Vault, Service Bus,

Redis Cache, SQL Server, Virtual Networks and VPN setups

• Automate infrastructure and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps (CI/CD).

• Design, optimize, and maintain SQL Server databases:

o Extensive work with stored procedures, indexing, views, performance tuning,

and data archiving

o Deep understanding of T-SQL and SQL trade-offs and optimization techniques

• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical systems.

• Proactively identify and address technical debt and architectural improvements.

• Optionally lead and mentor mid- to junior-level developers.

 

 

• Confidently challenge ideas, propose changes, and drive technical direction where

appropriate.

 

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, ensuring best practices and

high-quality code.

• Conduct code reviews, testing, debugging, and performance optimizations.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to

deliver impactful solutions.

 

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years in software development using .NET/C#.

• Deep experience with Microsoft Azure, especially:

o Azure App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, Service Bus, Redis

• Advanced experience with SQL Server, including:

o Database design, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting

performance issues

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, security, scalability, and resilience in

cloud environments.

• Hands-on with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repo management, and release

strategies.

• Experience with Git and agile development practices.

• Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a true team player.

 

Nice to Have

• Experience in leading small to mid-sized development teams or project initiatives.

• Exposure to Jira.
