Panhandle drivers: this fleet runs out of the Mobile hiring area and covers everything east of Denver except New England and the Northeast. Long enough runs to make real money, without fighting New York traffic.
About the money
Your pay follows the OTR mileage package, plus a performance bonus. Stops pay $15. Short loads pay $75 plus mileage. The first 3 months after you go solo come with a $1,000 weekly guarantee. A slow week won't sink your paycheck while you're learning.
About the work
Dry van. You'll see drop and hook, preloads, live loads and live unloads. Day or night, depending on the load. Holidays are volunteer. Winter weather in the Midwest is part of it, and your mentor will show you how to handle it.
How you start
You need a CDL-A school certificate of 120 hours or more. Then 3 to 5 weeks (200 to 250 hours) with a mentor on the road, paid every week. After that, your own truck.
